I guess there's a particular attraction to using funds which aren't technically yours to do what you want, and to ensure that certain other people are on your side so that your position is more firmly entrenched, but that just gets you in ethics issues. There's a different reality and if anything he needs to learn to get over himself. If he actually is gay or whatever, that really has nothing to do with the problem at hand.
