Jesse Pinkman 4,660
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know what he was part of was unquestionably evil, but I don't how much he can be held accountable. He was a young medic, not and officer or someone of authority, and more likely a pawn in all of this. With all the propaganda and him being so young, he was likely easily lead on; lets remember the world was completely different back then and didn't have the same perspective it does now. I also don't know how effective jailing him is. It doesn't offer retribution or ease the pain to those who remain, I doubt anything could. It doesn't make the world safer. It doesn't punish him. It serves little purpose. I'm not saying it is right or wrong to jail him, just that I can't sit here and pass judgement on a man for his actions he made a long, long time ago in a very different world. I agree, but at the same time he has to pay his dues regardless of how the world was back then. Its very unfortunate, but no matter how brainwashed someone is I believe that deep down inside we all know what is right and wrong. So because of that, I believe that he needs to serve his time. It's science, bitch

Bear 7,515
He should suffe from what he did to my ancestors. I hope he dies in jail alone. and he will, there is no doubt about it. What he was part of was beyond evil, and he will now pay for it. I'm not trying to justify or excuse him, he was always going to have this coming to him, I just think the whole situation has a sadness to it. I highly doubt the 94 year old man being punished is the same person he was when he committed the crime. You're right; this has to be done and he has to go to jail, but I can't hate him without knowing who he is now.

uo111 5,285
Accessory to murder is a lot different than murder. Wouldn't like, the entire German population been an accessory to murder. Like yea it wasn't okay, but this is a political statement. Not actual retribution.
Economy 53,090
No. I'm sure he made others' lives livid nightmares by having them see their family being murdered in front of their faces. ud be surprised at how many of these ppl probably did in fact suffer serving the Nazis no doubt many soldiers or people working at that time didnt even agree with what was happening but because of fear of being executed themselves or bein seen as a traitor, they all hailed hitler and did his dirty work not that im in anyway justifying what they did. but im sure many ppl who commited excutions in the name of the Nazis secretly inside were dying of guilt and didnt really wanna do it but felt forced to

They were not forced to, they signed up for the job, they knew what the "job" was. You realize hitler didn't force random men to become army men? They signed up for it. They enjoyed killing the innocent Jews. Sure some were dying of guilt, but most of them enjoyed it.

I can't feel nothing more than hate for him. so someone who was really young, easily brainwashed, possibly even forced and scared to defy Hitler during that opprossive time, if hes changed 70 years later u still hate him? I wonder how many ppl on this thread if put in the same circumstances back then especially at a certain age wouldnt end up doing the EXACT same things... Its so easy now to judge when we dont live in an oppressive society like back then where Governments were not only manipulative with propaganda but on top of that execution for failure to serve ur Country in war and being seen as a traitor was common. Things were totally different While you cannot excuse the things some of these people did, I cant feel "hate" taking into account different factors. Especially for someone who was 12 or 14 a frikkin 70 years ago. Id need more info an need more details before hating someone. U cant get bits and pieces of the story from a big puzzle from so long ago and decide u hate someone u dont know

And many probably didnt realize just how groosome it was Then there were the soldiers which often did much of finding the jews etc. Did Germany not have conscription back then during war time? It was an army that was official under Germany, so yes. Well that is true, but if you see footage the nazis filmed themselves you see them laughing and smiling while shooting women and children in the heads.
