Economy 47,707
That's what I was just thinking. I was shocked when this happened because this was still when Take That, and by extension, Robbie, were very popular. Robbie's fanbase may be older, but they are loyal, which explains why he's still selling albums and doing sold out tours all these years later. My aunt and cousin actually said that the only reason they jumped back on the Take That bandwagon was because Robbie re-joined and after he left the group again, they're no longer interested and will just focus on buying his solo stuff now. Male artists always have it easier than female artists and Robbie's a prime example of someone who'll always be deemed relevant by the industry regardless of his age, so the Radio 1 abandonment of him was really surprising. I totally agree that there's nothing wrong with lending a bit of support in the first week or two of the single, just to see how it goes. If it's a hit, it throws the age theory out the window. People getting massive hits later in life is not uncommon. Kylie had Can't Get You Outta My Head in her 30's, Cher had Believe in her 40's and Madonna has had numerous hits in her 30's, 40's and even 50's. By outright banning certain people from radio, it only encourages the youth of today to judge music by the age of the artist, which is all wrong. I dread the day this happens to Gaga. I fear she may go through a rocky time in her 30's if she doesn't play her cards right and the thought of her doing really bad lead singles with features from young people in her 40's is just too tragic to contemplate. I also agree that Madonna need not worry though, as she's proved her legacy and will never be forgotten even if she flops from now on. It's artists who haven't had a break till later in life or have always appealed to an older demographic that have real cause to worry.excuse me Cher was 50 :coffee:
QueenGadonna 298
She's not doing "VERY well" and if you're arguing that then you're just blind to the facts. I'm not trying to dig Madonna, she has had an unbelieveable career filled with high quality music. But as of the last few years there's been a very distinct decline in quality of music. I'm not saying Madonna should stop touring or recording music. I'm just suggesting that she should stop trying so desperately to appeal to the younger generations because she is quite honestly making a fool of herself and her music is suffering because of it. Her performance at the grammy was the most watched and Rebel Heart was number 1 in 46 countries on iTunes the day it was made available for pre-order. How is this doing bad? As for the decline in quality of music, the only recent album I did not like was Hard Candy. MDNA was ok, it had good tracks. Rebel Heart sounds amazing tho! MelbHawker 6,583
They're rather generous for cutting her at 56. U.S radio cut her off in her 40's.

LONDON QUEEN 0
That is such a mean thing to say and how is she not relevant when MDNA was 12th highest grossing tour.
daviddarko 144
I think this era has been her karma for kicking Gaga while she was down during the MDNA era. The endless leaks, the single flopping, the accusations of racism and opportunism, lack of interest in her etc etc. The cosmic reason for this was her negativity. She studies Kabbalah so she should've known this would happen. :applause:

That's been there for her since 1984 and she never has given one damn (like others unfortunately do :reductive: ). And as for success...She'll be having coins flooding her pocket anyways. I soooo wanna be a shady b---h and then have karma hit me back this way :air:
JazzGa 14,529
I dont understand why you young whippersnappers are acting like it's actually important that her song is being played on the "age 30+" radio station instead of the teen radio station. If you think about it, there are more adults 30+ in the world than teens and they spend more money too so that portion of the population actually greatly helps make artists relevant in terms of charting/sales/awards. I dont even like Madonna but this seems hilariously, must-be-staged level intentionally ****-stirry. My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <
