Danish media say several shots have been fired at a cafe in Copenhagen where a meeting about freedom of speech was being held, organized by Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who has faced numerous threats for caricaturing the Prophet Muhammad in 2007.

The TV2 channel said Saturday there were some 30 bullet holes in the window of the Krudttoenden cafe and said at least two people were taken away on stretchers, including a uniformed police officer.

Helle Merete Brix, one of the organizers of the event, told The Associated Press that Vilks was present at the event but not injured. When the artist is in Denmark, he receives police protection.

The cafe in northern Copenhagen, known for its jazz concerts, was hosting an event titled "Art, blasphemy and the freedom of expression" when the shots were fired.

Niels Ivar Larsen, one of the speakers at the event, told the TV2 channel that he saw two wounded people.

Hopefully, this will show not to draw offensive caricutures of religious figures. Such figures are sensitive, especially to Muslims. There is a limit to freedom of speech before it becomes offensive and susceptible to conflict. Although, this attack just goes to show how one mistake will follow you for the rest of your life and how no religion is either wrong or right. It has become apparent that no place is safe from terrorism but promoting hypocrisy is no way to resolve the problem

yeah those are some really sick, evil words. worse than saying don't wear short skirts unless you want to get raped. you're telling us to accept masochism from sadists. this means we should endlessly draw cartoons until sensitive, murderous assholes are forced to submit to our freedom. i mean really... the audacity. after shots were fired and someone might've died. shameful.

These are not evil words. They are the truth. Freedom is not at the expense of other's liberty and beliefs. Otherwise, that would be hypocritical. Now, stop your trolling and twisting my words. You don't know me nor what my beliefs are. I believe in equality and freedom for all but freedom of speech does not justify offending others. Now stop you xenophobic prick and stop twisting mu words

you don't believe in freedom. you believe in imposing islamic religious laws on non muslims at gunpoint. you hope in the death of a civilian for submission to islamic beliefs about drawing pictures, and you compare the drawing of cartoons to undermining someone's liberties. you see you only care about islamic offence, but what you are saying is undermining the liberty and beliefs of all those who believe in the principles of peace and freedom. that's offensive to me. you're the xenophobe, you're speaking on behalf of every muslim because of a minority who want to kill and spread fear in our society. there are muslims who reject this out there, but you are pandering to the fringe minority because you are afraid of what they'll do if we upset them. and that is because you are the xenophobe and the islamophobe, not me or anyone else who condemns your vulgar words.

Can you just explain how one's freedom to draw something interferes with another's liberty to practice their religion? Please tell me, cause from my pov these two things don't exclude each other.

So you saying those attacks are good? Seriously? :fail:

I'm totally for limited freedom of speech, but not in case of religion, there i want full freedom of speech.
