It is situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, to the east of Sweden and Denmark. It is bordered by Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) to the southwest. Lithuania has an estimated population of 3 million as of 2013, and its capital and largest city is Vilnius. Lithuanians are a Baltic people. The official language, Lithuanian, and Latvian are the only two living languages in the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family. As much as 93% of the country's population have secondary or higher education. Lithuania is a home of some of the region's leading information technology businesses and offers one of the world's fastest Internet connectivity. Lithuania is world famous as a birthplace of some of the most advanced laser technologies that NASA and other international organizations use. Lithuania enjoyed a 2.9 per cent GDP increase in 2014 and was among EU's five fastest-growing nations. The country has an excellent network of railways and roads and three international airports making transportation easy.
