Tommymonster44 0
OK, as a big Katy fan I'll be honest. Her live voice is not that great. I don't know how she sounds in a small setting, but it doesn't sound good in large venues. However, its unreasonable to expect artists to sing completely live in the circumstances of the Superbowl. There is such a short turnover time with such a large margin of error. The venue is made to play football, not to provide the neccesary acoustics for live performances. Both of those two reasons combined make the audio engineering side of it even more tricky for those running the show. They have to find a way to record and broadcast it to millions live. Plus, the performance is meant to pump people up and entertain more than it is to showcase technical skill. People want spectacle, not a showcase of vocal talent. It is wiser for the artist to place their energy in things like choreo and special effects over live singing. Finally, the shows often last a long time without ending. Even in concert, performers have a little bit of recovery time in between songs. At the end of the day, Katy was chosen to perform for a reason. I don't think live vocals are an important part of that.

mic 1,415
It will be prerecorded from start to finnish like common. She is not stupid she knows how she sounds live and this is going to be one of her biggest shows ever.
marcwaffles 20
would sound better pre-recorded...
HANZ 4,380
she should absolutely lip-synch, her vocals in firework are going to destroy the audience and the players' ears My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

I'm just not prepared for all her fans acting like it was live like "oh Em gee told u she can rlly sing" :toofunny:
ryhanna 3,507
Yaknow, I wouldn't blame her if she wanted to use SOME pre-recorded vocals. All of the focus during the show will be on her and her alone, and it's a HUGE audience to mess up in front of. Sometimes playing it safe is okay. SweetEscape 654
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlJZRuSlLeI It was a technical problem, and she started from the beggining. She obviously didn't even notice it. You could actually hear her voice under the playback in the beggining.
