The hijab shows the face though. And she could have taken it off if it was a woman police doing it. She asked if this could be done and was denied. She was wrong for driving with a suspended license but they should have just gotten her a female officer when she asked. He had no reason to disrespect her faith and belief and deny her that. and this Her driver's licence should be suspended for life and her vehicle confiscated for starters. Um, why? Something tells me you don't know how licenses work or what "suspended license" means. She made it clear she was willing to follow the protocol is a female officer took the picture but the department refused. (for lack of a less redundant word ) It's simply a bad argument to say that those who break the law (accidentally or not) are not entitled to any sort of empathy or basic humane treatment because of it Shes not using her religion as an excuse to break the law at all or get special treatment, she just wanted to be respected (and all people should get that from the police and government in general). You could argue "safety protocol", but as far as I know you just have to show your face and as stated several times here already, her face is still definitely visible, so it wasn't that big of a problem to allow it in the first place. I wouldn't be arguing so strongly if her having to remove her hijab was not a big deal. I'm pretty sure that it is not like shes just slightly awkward or embarrassed without it on. When one is arrested one is taken to the station and a photo is taken. Who cares if it's a man or a woman. You've broken the law now do as you're told, they're not doing anything inappropriate by taking a photo. I also find it disturbing how some say Islam dictates that women wear the hijab while I have seen Muslim women such as the Queen of Jordan and Yasser Arafat's wife wearing nothing on their heads. These two women are an example of how Islam can have a place in modern Western society. Unfortunately, many idiots prefer to defend archaic religious stupidities instead of advocating modernisation.
