"In 1990, the UN's climate panel predicted with "substantial confidence" that the world would warm at twice the rate that has been observed since."

Dr Willie Soon, an eminent solar physicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, said: "Our work suggests that Man's influence on climate may have been much overstated. The role of the Sun has been undervalued. Our model helps to present a more balanced view."

What I been sayn' ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

" Even if all available fossil fuels were burned, less than 2.2 °C warming would result."

I still think ecology and protecting the enviroment is important ...  but to me the whole global warming camaign has been scare tactics for political gain...

Even if it was fake the downsides of taking care of our planet is a clean environment and saving several species from extinction + cleaner energy sources :duck:

Hopefully this is true so people can stop freaking out so much

But obviously the toxicity we add to the environment can't help in other areas. Clean up yo s**t.

To me, the whole climate change denial campaign has been whitewash for political and financial gain.

You should also note that ever grant Willie Soon, the researcher, has "received since 2002 has been from oil or coal interests.â€http://www.desmogblog.com/willie-soon

Says it all.

In other news:

"The year 2014 – after shattering temperature records that had stood for hundreds of years across virtually all of Europe, and roasting parts of South America, China and Russia – was the hottest on record, with global temperatures 1.24F (0.69C) higher than the 20th-century average, US government scientists said on Friday.

A day after international researchers warned that human activities had pushed the planet to the brink, new evidence of climate change arrived. The world was the hottest it has been since systematic records began in 1880, especially on the oceans, which the agency confirmed were the driver of 2014’s temperature rise... " (research by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa) and NASA)

Extreme effects of climate change happening now in Middle East and Africa will impact upon West, even if you're still denying environmental changes in the West:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/14/us/politics/climate-change-deemed-growing-security-threat-by-military-researchers.html?_r=1

A denial which is pointless. Example:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/07/science/earth/climate-change-report.html

"Human influence on the climate system is clear and growing, with impacts observed on all continents. If left unchecked, climate change will increase the likelihood of severe, pervasive and irreversible impacts for people and ecosystems. However, options are available to adapt to climate change and implementing stringent mitigations activities can ensure that the impacts of climate change remain within a manageable range, creating a brighter and more sustainable future. "

Basically, I think a moderate approach to informing the public as well as gradual policy changes that benefit green energy are the most logical way to combat the damage that fossil fuels are doing...

The point of the article shows that original estimates on global temperatures were way over stated and the 'complex' climate models left out or overstated several parts of the equasion. Its clear that the impact that fossil fuels have isn't nearly as dramatic as being purported.
