Sure being able to access all messages at all times will make things easier to fight SOME aspects of crime, but that is a huge sacrifice to give up my own privacy. What is that gonna lead to? The government putting mic's & cameras in every flat and house, because "terrorists" don't use the internet anymore? The state eliminating people who criticize its politics? field 98 Posted January 12, 2015 Share Posted January 12, 2015 I'm getting sick of all these invasions of privacy in the name of "terrorism" I have the utmost sympathy for the victims of terrorism but invading the privacy of the masses is NOT the way it should be handled. Terrorism should be dealt with institutionally at borders, immigration and gun laws. Not by treating normal citizens as threats. so stupid, terrorism isn't going to stop because of a lack of snapchat or whatsapp terrorism will just find another way to communicate. Completely. All these moves being made in the name of counter-terrorism handily also leave the masses who you're sh*tting on from a great height more completely surveilled, and thereby more controllable. What 4 Posted January 18, 2015 Share Posted January 18, 2015 On one hand I'm melting down because that'd make it a lot less convenient to speak to people, but if stopping millions of people from contacting each other through those apps and forcing them to use non-encrypted means stopping a terrorist attack then it's all worth it Idk if someone has said this already cause i cba going through the pages but, he wants to do away with all encryption on everything. So that encludes bank websites, email etc. So when you put in your pw for your bank people that can get access can see it, and emails will be able to be seen in plain text. Why don't we shut down the whole internet and shut down all phone connections so the terrorists have to send messages via owl?  Oh yeah, this will definitely work.
