she has an amazing vision

I think shes cool, I like her aesthetic. Shes not really anti-commercial though. Shes not groundbreaking. Thats all im getting at. But I dont expect many people here to agree for obvious reasons.

I just think a lot of pop stans are limited in their perceptions of music. They primarily focus on top 40 or they skim the top of the alternative litter (Bjork, FKA Twigs, etc.) and often overlook the past and overlook the actual underground so they hear Lana and think shes this beacon of originality because theyve never realized music similar to her existed or they never were presented with someone as attractive and simple as her that made them able to swallow something like her. I think Lana crafted this really cool persona and I like her lounge singer vibe and her look. However, I also think shes one dimensional, everything thats great about her can really only be taken at surface value. Her lyrics sound cool, but they don't allude to anything really. I dont have a problem with this, I like what shes bringing to the table. All I was saying was I kind of roll my eyes when I see so many people latch onto these cool surface features and mistake them as substantial because she sounds melancholy and keeps her look and production lowkey. People talk about her work as if shes our generations Tori Amos and I think shes more like a pop star meets Adele. Shes shallow but shes cool. Let me remind everyone though this is my opinion, before I get scolded for trying to police people or something.

Great! Love how smoothly her album cycles seem to be going. I was really concerned between BTD and UV when she was talking about "quitting the music industry" and how her "muse is fickle" and she has trouble finding the inspiration to write sometimes. I think working on movie soundtracks has been great for her self-esteem and inspiration instead of trying to appeal to the capricious indie/hipster crowd.

The title sounds like this might be a happier album, it will be interesting seeing what she produces without being swathed in mysterious melancholy as she likes to do. But if she does make another mournful smoky album I'll be here for that too

My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <3

This summarizes my thoughts as to why I think Lana is so popular rather well.

OT: Excited! Lana Del Rey AKA Lizzy Grant is still my favorite album so maybe she brings those vibes to this new body of work?
