Welcome to the Hip Hop thread!

What got you interested in Hip Hop initially?

What are your opinions on Hip Hop culture?

Who is your favorite Hip Hop artist?

Feel free to post music! :spin:

They say music can alter moods and talk to you

But can it load a gun up for you and cock it too?

Well if it can then the next time you assault a dude

Just tell the judge it was my fault and I'll get sued

See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols

And they want to get one 'cos they think the shit's cool

Not knowin' we're really just protectin' ourselves

We're entertainers of course this shit's affectin' our sales

You ignoramus but music is reflection of self

We just explain it and then we get our checks in the mail

It's fucked up ain't it how we can come from practically nothin'

To bein' able to have any fuckin' thing that we wanted

It's why we sing for these kids that don't have a thing

Except for a dream and a fuckin' rap magazine

Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long

Idolize their favorite rappers and know all they songs

Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in they lives

So they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die

Till they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe

We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in their eyes

That's why we seize the moment and try to freeze it and own it

Squeeze it and hold it 'cos we consider these minutes golden

And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone

Just let our spirits live on through out lyrics that you hear in our songs

Azealia Banks is the artist that made me love rap music and she is my favorite artist #2 (#1 is Gaga :ohwell: ).

I also listen to Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Cakes Da Killa and Zebra Katz a lot. I think that I'm gonna give Tyler, The Creator a chance soon.

My dad forced Run DMC, Public Enemy, Tribe Called Quest and N.W.A. down my throat when I was a kid. So there's that. My mom was more into Reggae and R&B, plus we would always blast Rap/R&B in our house every Sunday afternoon. It brings back so many memories. Also, Jay Z was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

Then I got into Dipset, Crime Mob, and all of those other groups from the mid-2000s... that was when Cam'Ron made everybody want to wear Pink and have those furry pink flip-phones and pink Lexus coupes. Such a time to be alive.  :smh:

Some years ago I was clueless about hip-hop. Then Super Bass happened. It got me interested in Nicki, so I checked her album out, and eventually her mixtapes. That's when I kind of fell in love with hip-hop.

My favorites would be Nicki, Azealia Banks and Kanye West :legend:

Then I also listen to Kendrick Lamar, Tyler The Creator, Brooke Candy, Childish Gambino, J. Cole, among others occasionally

the first hip hop song i remember falling in love with was Mr. Wendal by Arresed Development. i swear i forced my dad to play that song every time we went for a ride in the car. weird maybe that song is the reason its so damn hard for me to say no to homeless people who ask for money even though my parents tell me its a dumb thing to do

Blue Jeans

When I was down the only thing that would give me strenght was Hip-Hop , my uncles and cousins always played Hip-Hop music around my house when i was a kid so i was and still am very in touch with Hip-Hop.. it inspires me becasuse its very honest (Well good Hip-Hop)

My fave is Kanye West, he's an amazing artist overrall from his lyrics to his productions to his music videos and tour, his personnality doesn't bother me... My Beautiful Dark And Twisted Fantasy is One of the best albums of all time.

Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen

I guess I'll go a little old school.  I don't know if this is technically rap or if it's hip-hop.  Either way, I like it.  :giggle:  Queen Latifah!  yoga-smiley-emoticon.gif
