This is so true. But if you look at US history you can see this government has always used "fear" and "security" to further its goals. "Red Scares" from various times in the 20th century and after 9/11 there's this notion of "war on terror" and now the NSA seems to be abusing its powers.

Plus, these morons here have created the idea that carrying guns is an absolute freedom and feel so privileged to own them. I've never felt a need to "protect myself" but I understand if people in rural areas feel the need to.

That is correct, let's not forget you guys have such a huge weapon lobby too that feeds into the fear of people just to sell more guns. You being used as puppets in this game and it's working, the multi billion industry speaks for itself.

You can get a hunting license here as well, we also have hunters in the Netherlands to keep a quota on certain animals.

But we know who they are, the police knows who they are cause cause they are registered, but are trained and only equipped to perform their task.

Yeah, the NRA (National Rifle Association) is one of the most powerful lobbying powers here. It's their fault laws don't change. There have been polls and many people are favoring stricter gun control but various intents to change laws have not been passed by the puppets in Congress.

Nope. You just need to pass the multiple-choice knowledge test.

There are six categories of gun license:

A - Firearm collection

B - Sport shooting

C - Hunting

D - Exercise of a profession

E - Self-defense

F - Pyrotechnical survey

An applicant applies for a gun license at the police. Obtaining the license requires passing a theoretical and practical exam. If the conditions of age, qualification, health clearance, criminal integrity and personal reliability are met and a fee of 500 CZK per category is paid, the license shall be issued in 30 days.

"Among popular guns is the Vz. 58. The semi automatic version can be obtained easily with any type of gun license."

Why are you actually like never posting any kind of understandable source?

If this should really be the case in the Czech Republic, good for them. Nonetheless our fellow neighbours in the Czech Republic seem to be much more relaxed in using their guns. I have never heard about a fellow Czech, who goes shopping at the local supermarket with a semi-automatic weapon...

Nothing wrong with taking a gun shopping.

This is more complicated than it seems. Policies that work in other countries wouldn't work here because of how long current policies have been in place and how deeply rooted guns are to American culture. I do believe there is an issue, but we can't just turn everything around, ban guns, and expect it all to work out well. We need to take it slow.

I feel so bad for the poor kid, he's gonna grow up knowing he killed his own mother. As for the mum, if someone feels the need to carry a gun in reach of a child, and are killed by said gun then you're ****ing stupid and probably shouldn't be raising kids.

What if a guy carried a gun and tried to shoot someone in the store.. and she had the gun to defend everyone in the store? you know that these shooting that happened in theaters? the shooter always chooses theaters that dont allow guns so nobody can defend themselfs.

What if the guy shoots her from behind?

What if the guy is wearing body armor?

What if the guy shoots her while she going though her purse to get the gun?

What if the guy is wearing invisibility cloak?

What if he's immortal?

:awesome:

What if the problem with public shootings is not that people are not armed enough, but the mentality that owning a gun is normal and shooting people is normal?

What if people realize that guns are giving them false sense of security while making a few corporations rich as piss?

I just said "what if" because the person I replied to used the "what if" so I was doing what you did to me to the person I replied to.. anyway.. Anyone can easily find a gun in the united states.. these 300 million guns are not going to disapear. 1/3 of legal owners get their guns privately so gun control wont change anything.

Gun owners:

44% bought the gun privately

32% stole it

9% rented or borrowed it

16% bought it from a retailer

3% mentioned the black market

600k guns stolen every year, millions circulating among criminals.

Mass Shootings: The Facts:

*The number of mass shootings has not increased over the past decades

*The most mass killings of US were 1929

*Mass murder incidents declined from 42 in the 1990s to 26 from 2000-2012

*The three worst K-12 school shootings took place in either Britain or Germany

*The murder rate is less than half of what it was two decades ago.

International Comparisons:

*US vs UK - UK still had far less violence before 1920, when gun controls were the same

*1919: homicide rate in UK/Wales 0.08/100k, in the US 9.5/100k (almost 12x)

*1983-1986: UK 0.67, US 7.59

*After 60 years of increasing gun control, UK murder rates got worse

*43% of UK burglaries occurred when people were home, only 9% of US burglaries

*Boston has the strictest gun control, Also has the most school shootings

*Canada has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the world, almost as many rifles per capita in Canada as in the United States and they have a safe community.

The number of mass shootings has not increased over the past decades. The murder rate is less than half what it was two decades ago. Crime rates drop substantially after highly publicized instances of victims arming or defending themselves. Did you know that citizens use guns to protect themselves against criminals over two and a half million times a year? If you are for gun control, then you are not against guns, because the guns will be needed to disarm people. So it's not that you are anti-gun. You'll need the police's guns to take away other people's guns. So you are very pro-gun, you just believe that only the Government (which is, of course, so reliable, honest, moral and virtuous) should be allowed to have guns. There is no such thing as gun control. There is only centralizing gun ownership in the hands of a small, political elite and their minions

Oh, so you're talking about the police and military? Tell me which firearm companies are "rich as piss" from civilian sales of defensive guns. It's all about government contracts.  :dies:

FATCAT

The woman (29 years old) was shopping with her 4 kids. The 2 year old, grabbed the gun out of the bag of the mom and shot her dead.

Tragic incident...

But hey this wouldn't have happend if the woman didn't carried a gun while shopping.. But hey it's America so I aint that surprised

You need to update the title. You misspelled Walmart :lmao:

im sorry but lol

Adding the "I'm sorry but," on the front of your post doesn't make it any less disrespectful and it doesn't make you seem like less of an ass-hat.

I'm not saying that people in the US shouldn't own guns cause y'all guys are past the point where you can create a peaceful society that's not armed like it's a war zone out there. But do you think a little control would hurt? You're posting facts about UK vs. US from a list that I'm sure was completed by someone who's very pro-guns, so here another one:

Firearm-related death rate per 100,000 population per year

United Kingdom 0.25

United States 10.30

You're on this list right next to the third world countries, all the developed countries are way below 2(most 1). Why not demand the government to take serious action against crime, so there wouldn't be a need for 2.5 million people to use guns to protect themselves. It's their job and they're failing you and instead of taking  responsibility for this, they're simply telling you to arm yourselves. Can't you see the problem here?

Now again - I'm not saying that disarming the US would work. But I do think the mentality about guns should change. There should be very strict control for owning a gun. Do you think this is a bad idea. Cause you can post any statistics from the first half of 20th century, but facts are we're living in the 21st century now and things like small children shooting their siblings or parents are happening only to you and the school shootings in the US since 2010 have been over 100. 100! Do you know how many happened in the EU - 2. And since you're comparing numbers with the UK - they haven't had a single school shooting for the last 20 years. Tbh if I was a parent in the US I would be more worried about sending my kids to school than somebody robbing me, but that's just me. My point is there is a problem with guns in your country and I'm sure you're acknowledging it too and something must be done.

There were 17 million applications from civilians to buy guns in 2012. Of course not all of them are approved. But you get the picture. Now I don't know the average price for a gun, maybe you could tell me, since you're an expert. From what I found on google quality guns start from $400-$600, but there are cheap ones around $150-$200. If you think there are no economic interests involved in selling guns to civilians you are fooling yourself.
