bigpinkenergy 1,015
Legendary. Actually legendary. Nothing beats that. I can't I think it's actually the first time Iggy's delusion has actually made me laugh out loud
ELECTRAHEARTPOP 93
you genuinely love the culture + appreciate the roots. Iggy steals and claims it all as her own. Pretty much This post gave me cancer phase 4. Disgusting. Don't ever ****ing joke about cancer.
Navy 495
This culture talk is getting so out of hand. Your skin color shouldn't limit what you do, the genre you sing/rap, the clothes you wears the way you act, exe. Iggy is bullied for no reason. ELECTRAHEARTPOP 93
Everyone coming for me about 'Will.i.am not being hip hop'... I know of his roots. I loved BEP early stuff. I know where he comes from and the music he used to make. But he's done almost as much to make the hip hop genre skewed and muddy as Iggy. I mean, I've seen people thinking #WILLPOWER is great hip hop/urban music. I mean And don't forget when Iggy played spokesperson of black culture when she declared that Miley stole twerking from her after Iggy herself declared the 'trend' was over I can't I remember that I was still kind of in support at there then but I've done a lot more reading and education now. thefamebitch 833
People like you make me sick, quite frankly. I'll make this situation a little easier to understand for my fellow GGD users (a lot of whom seem very sheltered and detached from this issue). Imagine (and for some of you this may be reality) that you are bullied, or are depressed, or just have really negative **** going on outside of your time spent on GGD. You have a bad time at home with family, you are bullied at school/work, you have a lot of stress going on, money troubles, and you can't use social media. Your only escape is this website. Imagine then, that your bullies, parents, etc, find your GGD account. They either force you to stop visiting or they join themselves - the latter is more relevant. Those that have looked down on you all their lives (in your eyes) are suddenly invading the final place you had to express yourself, and be yourself, around like minded people. Imagine how trapped you'd feel. How hopeless you'd feel. And this is going on while Gaga fans are being murdered by Katy fans outside of this. You have no where to express yourself. All your traditions are ruined and gone. That's how black people are feeling right now. My best friend is black and she cannot stand rap/hip-hop and the culture it comes with so how does this apply to all black people?
ELECTRAHEARTPOP 93
Go listen to the black eyed peas first two albums and his first two solo albums. He's hip hop. He's also pop and dance. I don't think you're really educated on the topic clearly as you must know nothing about Wil. He's hip hop and he has evolved and changed (not for the better ) Read my above posts. My best friend is black and she cannot stand rap/hip-hop and the culture it comes with so how does this apply to all black people? I worded that wrongly sure. It's a how a lot of people feel. Not just Azealia.
Benji 20,113
I totally agree! It's beyond "dragging ha". And are you referring to J.Cole's piece? I wasn't but there has been other celebs giving their thoughts and also a lot of people noticing how the media is portraying this. The amount of articles choosing a "glamorous" or even "s-xy" image of Iggy next to a bad picture of Azealia attempting to make her out to be the one in the wrong for speaking about her worries for her culture. It's just an awful situation that is clearly far away from coming to a head. We'll see though, hopefully a lot of members here will look back at this time and feel awful about it some day... probably not but we'll see!

Your skin color shouldn't limit what you do, the genre you sing/rap, the clothes you wears the way you act, exe. Iggy is bullied for no reason. maybe actually read what people are saying instead of taking one look at the op and thinking 'BUT I'M WHITE WHY CAN'T I RAP IF I WANT TOO?!?!??!!?!111' Iggy is bullied here because she doesn't appreciate the culture she stole half her material from. Sorry bout it. I think living as a person of colour in America is a little harder than having a couple people on internet forums saying 'it's wrong for Iggy Azalea to culturally appropriate' but w/e. At the end of the day once this thread gets close both of us can go back to living as white, privileged people. ALX 170
I  Japanese Culture I know a lot of their history I try to learn hiragana, katakana and kanji I'm always using Japanese words with my family and they find it cute/funny, not with my friends tho I have a cheap male kimono that someone gave years ago which I use at home to sleep I'm learning Karate right now I have the ingredients to make sushi and onigir at home right now I love anime I listen to J-POP or K-POP artists singing in japanese like SNSD am I a bad for this? No, because you understand the history and reasoning behind each action you take with regards to Japanese culture. There's a difference between appreciation and appropriation/using things for decoration without understanding their significance to the culture they're from You opened up an interesting dialogue no one will pay attention to because they're so obsessed with success rather than the conceptual nature and actual artistry music has. They'll learn once they get into high school/college
craig 680
well let me give you this I am latino and I love when people from other countries use latin rythms and sounds in their songs or even latin costumes I've personally loved everytime Madonna has used latin influences in her songs and clothes, la isla bonita, spanish lesson, spanish eyes, the zillions of times she has used latin clothes in her tours, I love it and I am here for it, it's like a compliment that she seems to appreciate our culture that much I think a lot of people feel that way. As a Canadian, I'd rather have Hollywood imperfectly represent my country than totally ignore it. I think many Asian enjoys seeing their culture have an impact in America too. (I've seen actual Asian people call out SJW types for getting offended on their behalf and appropriating their voice.) American leftist Social Justice Warriors don't realize how arrogant they are when they bully people for "cultural appropriation" because (1) in most cases there isn't a consensus in the culture they are supposedly protecting that CA is a bad thing and (2) those cultures don't want to be ignored, which is a risk if it became dangerous to be inspired by them. Because the culture has accepted decades of appropriation to the point that they feel like they don't even own anything. They feel it would be useless to have this discussion because it leads to people like you undervaluing the issues mte like that time katy performed a "messy and cheap version" of a geisha and I saw everyone complaing but the japanese, like that was because she combined blatantly separate parts of each Asian culture and tried to present it as Japanese -_-
