Gaga really is her own enemy.

Gaga Ate My Ass

When it comes to taste, we all have our own when it comes to gaga but I know the majority of us prefer her work during her peek. Many people in the fan base and outside the fan base have been underwhelmed with Gaga's latest work and I think Gaga is the one to blame. Blaming Gaga isnt bad, in fact it means she was already creative at the beginning of her career. The issue with that is that she started everything too rapidly to the point where everyone kept expecting the next big thing after each performance. For example, the iconic vma 2009 performance came too soon after the iconic fire bra performance which led for people to expect a more memorable performance than the vma 2009 which by most people in the world has yet to be topped. Personally I like that all these creative performances were crammed together at such a small period of time but I wonder if Gaga sometimes regrets having everything done so fast as if shes her own enemy. Many people have her on this pedestal and treat her like this robot and expect magic but really shes just human and I think now she really is taking a REAL break and can really focus more on a cohesive theme for her albums and performwnces. I think Gagas early success overwhelmed her and she constantly wanted to top herself until the born this way era HOWEVER it got to the point where she tried too hard to be theater not that its a bad thing but it comes off as rather silly. The vmas 2009 was PURE theater whereas performnces from the born this way ball or certain ARTPOP performances where the theater and the music lacks due to props or how massive her stage prescense is. The applause video is unique and wonderful since its not contrived like the you and i and marry the night video. Cheek to cheek is a great moment in gagas career but like her previous works people in the future will compare cheek to cheek to her furure jazz albums (if she releases more jazz albuns)

She's working with Tony Bennett, Diane Warren, and Nile Rodgers. She's worked with other influential, iconic, and incredibly talented artists who've all given her countless amounts of praise. In addition to this, she's still one of the most talked about musicians and while ARTPOP didn't see success like her first albums, it still was overall a success.

To look at what Gaga has accomplished and what she currently has going for her and interpret it as failing or Gaga being her own enemy is, in my opinion, too harsh. She should be extremely proud of herself, and we should recognize she's done more with her life and career in the last five years than any of the people posting here will do in the next twenty of their own.

I agree tbh. She accomplished so much in her first 3 years of career tbh.

Thank you so much for replying in a respective way and actually discussing your thoughts unlike others in this thread.

I agree with you 100 percent and maybe saying gaga is her own enemy is too harsh but I do think everything happened too quickly however regardless it happened too quicjly, she'll always have her talent and people will still talk avout her. That being said, many artists face the same issue its just I noticed it in gaga too. People are going to expect her next jazz record to outdo cheek to cheek and if it doesnt then people will complain and say she will never top cheek to cheek in terms of jazz albums.

Let's be honest, very very few outside of the fanbase have given ARTPOP a full listen. And believe it or not, there are many fans who love the album without bias. Regardless, she seems to be working with some great people people now, so what's the problem?
