Hexxx 2,244
I think it's like this. I'm a black rapper. Im making real hip hop music; however, I'm struggling to get out there and be known to the world *silence from the media *Iggy Azealea (along with her black persona) comes out with a song like Fancy "Omg she's the queen of rap!" Its really just awful. Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko
codymonster 8,360
she isn't bringing down white people though, but racial issues are not just black people upset, it's a two way system with both white and black people involved, so you can't have the discussion on it without bringing up white people also, in her tweets she does seem to be blaming iggy solely, but in the interview in which she has more than 140 characters, she explains that iggy is more of a metaphor for the whole issue, she's a good example of it. i really recommend you watch the interview so you can see what they're both talking about She is, because she's negating Iggy's success to her race. And i did watch the interview. She had some good points! But if Iggy's a metaphor, she shouldn't continually attack her personally on Twitter. Especially attacking her again AFTER the interview. Cause Iggy is a person, not a metaphor Thats like Gaga tweeting Katy Perry saying "i want to throw a bottle of piss at you. Your generic music is ****, and you dont have any idea about art," and then saying in an interview, "oh, katy is a metaphor for the industry and how its uninspired and manufactured." Does that make her tweet right and not rude? :rip:
Willy Wonka 4
Because thats what Azealia is making the issue about. If she simply talked about racial issues, id have her respect. But instead, she attacks iggy for being a successful white rapper, which is racist in itself, and then attaches a link to her album after her twitter rant She's the one combining numbers and success with this issue. She needs to separate the two, then maybe people will take her seriously. What is Iggy supposed to do? Say "Sorry guys, im quitting rapping because I'm white and its not fair that im more successful than a black person." It sounds ridiculous, but thats what Azealia is making it sound like Iggy needs to do, by continually attacking her. You still don't get it. Almost everything was a criticism of society and not of Iggy. Why are people conflating the two?

If you or anyone else criticising Azealia actually took the time to watch the interview and understand her point you'd know that. I quote: "It's bigger than just playing this sh*t on the radio, I don't give a f*ck, you know what I mean? That's fine b*tch, do what you gotta do." I feel like she articulated herself better in the interview than she does on Twitter where it looks like she's just coming at Iggy. Too much focus is being placed on her, people need to look at the bigger picture.

Willy Wonka 4
Did you not see her recent Twitter tirade In which she talked about Iggy, and then put a link to her own album That's irrelevant to my comment. Why do you confuse her criticism of society with criticism of Iggy personally? Why can you not understand the difference?

Yes, but i think its ridiculous how she comes at Iggy personally. Again, if she stood for racial equality without continually bringing up Iggy and attacking her, id have her respect. However, instead, it seems like a sick marketing ploy, and it disgusts me.

Why can you not understand the difference? Omfg. Cause she's talking about Iggy in BOTH If she shut the **** up about Iggy, and tweeting links to her album, i'd respect her. Its foolish to say shes not using both issues synonymously. Iggy cant help being white, so she needs to stop attacking her for rapping.
Jesse Pinkman 4,660
Exactly! Azealia is intelligent and passionate, she just needs to learn to express herself better, and without so much hate and negativity. I love how you are looking at the situation! Agreed! And thank you so much! It's science, bitch

Okay, but are you not seeing that Iggy is symptomatic of the exact problem she's trying to discuss? It is not a personal attack towards Iggy to discuss how "Fancy" has been treated by the media. And it's perfectly legitimate to criticize Iggy for calling herself a "runaway slave master". Furthermore, I'm not understanding how people are arguing that her attitude is what is holding back her career but are also arguing that this is a "marketing ploy"? Like, is her feud hurting her or helping her? Can we pick one?
