Foivos 64
Elections won by Syriza in Greece... with ~35% of the votes, they're getting 149-151 seats in the Greek parliament out of 300 seats - the winner of the elections gets 50 free seats. Syriza wants to stop the cuts and 'renegotiate' with the ECB, IMF, EU. Second is New Democrats, with ~29% of the votes, a central-right party which basically helped Greece out of a recession with harsh cuts, tax hikes, etc. to lower the debt deficit and be able to negotiate for more loans with the IMF and ECB. Third is between neo-nazi/fascist party Golden Dawn and Potami, both with ~7% of the votes. In case you dont know, the new party is doing a very good job already. The New Democrats which according to you "helped" Greece managed to lead 30% of the population to live in poverty and more than 1000 people to commit suicide because of ther debts. I am not saying that SYRIZA is the perfect solution, but at least they try to actually negociate with "troica" and not go to the Eurogroups, Ecofins etc accepting everything they propose like the old party did... Syriza is delusional (also known as populist). Instead of facing the problems themselves and going for long-term economic growth, they want to do it pre-crisis Greek style: high debt deficit, no trust from businesses and investors, making everybody happy for a few years, and destroying your country economically long-term. Which investor will still trust Greece after these 4 years, Which business wants to go to Greece with a minimum wage way too high for the economy? How is Greece going to get a lower unemployment if no business wants to go to Greece? All Syriza is doing is making Greece pre-crisis for 2-4 years, and then the next government will have to deal with the ptoblrms caused by Syriza. Greece is not in the position to negotiate, they should be happy they're not bankrupt. It cost the average west-/South-European (excluding Greece) about €7000 at the time they needed it the most, and Greece doesn't even want to give it back after all the payback date pushbacks interest lowerings, etc. This simply isn't how it works. If Greece can do it, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Cyprus could too, and we're back to 2012. Greece's problem is overspending. The only country that has an underspending problem is Germany. Reform and go on with the needed cuts or get out of the Eurozone. I'm sure your future will be nice together with new trading partner Russia. And good luck with the billions you need to pay back to the IMF in a month, which you won't get from Europe if Syriza doesn't plan to give it back. It's Greece's fault they got into this mess, and they should already be extremely happy they got helped so much. I don't know if you realize it, but ND simply had to fix the problems they caused themselves pre-2008, and saved the country from going bankrupt qith it. Luc 4,776
You are so ignorant omg And the "underspending" Germany still owes Greece a lot of money for war reparations by the way Ignorant? Then explain why. Germany was 65 years ago. Germany did get special treatment, but Greece won't get any morr special treatment. It's in the Eurozone/EU now and it's not even allowed. Lending money to Greece like they did already was on the boundaries of legal/illegal. And next to that, if Greece gets special treatment, what about Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland and Cyprus. They'll want special treatment too. If ND had won, Greece and the EU will be in a way better situation both now and long-term. But good luck with your high pensions, high minimum wages and businesses being almost unable to fire people, and having to pay way higher taxes for all public services, high pensions and high social security with no businesses left because of the high taxes and high minimum wages. This system Syriza wants 'works' in a communist state, but not in a capitalist country.

What they owe for WWII is beside the point. Greece mismanaged their Gov. With the view that they could get unlimited loans .. They really need to rework their spending policies to fit the actual reality of their own system, not what others countries get... That's like me trying to get Gaga's type of credit with a truckers income ... 8-/ like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. What do I have to do with WW2? Especially when my ancestors didn't even fight for Germany. Why do I need to give you money for thing I didn't do? I'd rather say that you are the ignorant here. It's bad what happens in Greece, but you won't get money if you attack us like that.

It's bad what happens in Greece, but you won't get money if you attack us like that. well the people may not be the same but the entity is the same and it was less than a century ago. i can understand both points of view... if someone stole from my dad lets say and his son enherited money that i was suppostu inherit, would it be wrong for me to feel like i should get that back? the same way Germany has payments it did not make that if it did make perhaps some of the investments that were made that people in your generation enjoy today wouldnt to the same degree... altho on a Nation basis its more difficult to calculate what the real impact would be i dont think either of you are ignorant... its a very grey area and both points of view have merit

Its not that complicated I beleive that the goal is sincere, to help people in need. But much like the affordable housing act under Bill C. , the balance of supply and demand is disrupted. Health Care is important and without some sort of oversite will diminish into an elitest entity. Pittsburgs economy right now is dominated by health care, that is it is the leading revenue producing industry in that region. And that is because the hospital administrators can charge $150 per asprin tablet prescribed without oversite or competion due to mandatory health care laws. What hospital managers and exectutives see is that their costs are pretty much static, and their income is mandated. So the extra revenue goes straight to line their pockets. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. Luc 4,776
How will Greece leaving the Eurozone affect other Eurozone countries? And what will happen to stocks all around the EU? My parents want to put all money on a bank bc they think that stocks are overpriced atm in Europe and are peaking. They won't invest in oil or things like that because it's not environmentally responsible. I wonder if they should indeed put all money on banks so it's safer...
