Guest
There's no way you can twist the situation. There's a high definition video of Garner getting choked to death. That guy murdered him. And Garner did nothing at all to provoke him.
MahoganySnitch 67
No matter how you want to twist this story, Eric Garner died from being put in a chokehold. Simple as. It's like they are watching another video, or just all around playing stupid trying to get their buddy off of a homicide charge. They're basically blaming Garner for being a tall and larger man... with asthma. As if he was completely in control of that. This cannot be the last we hear of this case. The officer needs to pay for this. I can't believe this is even happening right now. It is still mind boggling that there was no indictment. Like...how?? Lana Morgana 25
I'm sure that was a factor, but doesn't excuse the fact that those white cops STILL tackled him after he repeatedly said "I can't breathe" 11 times.
Morbid 124
How the hell can this guy feign "compassion" for the the Garner family? Utterly disgusting! I feel like tweeting the asshole.
No Angel 128
It is still mind boggling that there was no indictment. Like...how?? Literally all the evidence you need was there, and still, no indictment. It kills me though. That's the final image his wife and kids will ever see of him, and they'll most likely will never forget that. And the guy who killed him had the nerve to say he hopes the family can forgive him. ...and he walks home to his children and wife every day.

rpggal 332
This guy literally just said the police had no way of knowing the state of Garner's health, and that he died of because he was "so obese," in the same paragraph. Like, they had no way of knowing he was obese, as in, they had their eyes closed the whole time or something? Obese individuals are at much higher risk of heart disease, as well as other health problems. The officers knew he was obese, and with any basic health knowledge should have known that his state of health was probably not so great that he could withstand the physical trauma of a chokehold, while simultaneously having multiple officers ON TOP of him. When he said he couldn't breathe, that was a clear indicator that, well, he couldn't ****ing breathe, and, as any basic knowledge of human biology would tell you, would soon die of suffocation if he was not permitted to breathe. Yet the officers ignored (or didn't mind) the fact that they were killing a man, and decided to keep suffocating him. These officers showed a reckless disregard for human life in the pursuit of apprehending a suspected criminal on a TRIVIAL offense. That's at the very least manslaughter. The lack of an indictment just shows how totally ****ed up our system is.

Economy 52,974
Ppl all taking his side yet everyone seems to ignore the fact that he was resisting arrest and defying law Cops have a duty to enforce the law and if you try to be an asshole to the cops its your own risk to take Cops may have been a little excessive yes, but seriously all u complainers in diffiult situations often would too Its easy to forget that these situations that got out of hand, the criminals started them not the cops That being said, better training to prevent cops from going ecessive because they dont know how to handle a situation is needed. If by excessive you mean employing an illegal maneuver, then yes. Funny that Garner is being held accountable for his crimes yet there is no accountability as far as grand juries are concerned towards the officer. If cops have to break the law to enforce it, that's a problem. That is what happened here.

That is what happened here. it wasnt technically illegal. they are allowed to keep ppl down like this... preferable to shooting their mistake was doing it for too long while he was clearly chocking. in that sense the cops were dumb
