inuborg 4,136
for someone trying to rail someone for being supposedly homophobic, you're really committing some heinous crimes against bis-xuality and self-identification. it's not up to you to police how people identify. what a joke. for the record, katy perry never identified as bis-xual. jessie j identified as bis-xual and then later identified as straight, that's her prerogative. nicki minaj is a more problematic case, but still, she has stated how she identifies. for you to think that you can dictate how she identifies is so ignorant. talk about throwing rocks from a glass house. I have to say I really appreciate that fact that you're not defending her, saying how she's right, yass-ing everything she says like other AB fans. Yeah I was heavily disappointed by what she said. But some people here need to calm down. I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.
Willy Wonka 4
I just knew as soon as I saw your name that you'd be writing something amazing like this. I happen to agree with what she says to a large extent, not how she said it, but boy, I know frustration.. Too bad only a minority will care about this interpretation. Thank you, Didymus. I was actually just about to go through this thread and see if you had written anything because I always look forward to what you say. For the record, I think I agree with what she's saying to some degree too. I've certainly matured since my days of knee-jerk reactions over specific words that people use and no longer believe that simply because someone uses a word that has been used oppressively or derogatorily, that that person is also oppressive or is being derogatory towards a certain group. So no, I'm not going to call her homophobic for using this word when her actions and sentiments have shown nothing but support for gay rights and the gay community at large, even if she is criticizing a valid issue found within the gay community. Of course, like you said, I believe there are absolutely better ways to go about making the argument that she did, but I think the sentiment behind what she said is absolutely valid. And her language is in line with what she uses to describe any other issue with any other group, so I don't know why she's being labeled homophobic for this instance. But I have to say, I always feel like I'm in the right if you're agreeing with me. ;)
Joaco95 1,631
What the actual **** :koons: It's most definitely warranted tho.. She legitimately just attacked the entire gay community If that's not being a b---h, I don't know what is youre a fag then
DrewStevens 5,249
"@AZEALIABANKS: @PerezHilton you will always be a *******. The men you want will never give you the same social regard a woman gets." I just want to leave this statement here for anyone who says this is just about her using words. Well, I'm not really getting emotionally invested this time because I think the reaction of people here is almost as interesting and fascinating as Azealia's point. Just shows how people are so incredibly quick to judge and disagree (emotionally) without having any interest in understanding another point of view, which is ironically what they usually blame the other person for, in this case Azealia. I'm glad someone else took the time to post my opinion though I admire you a lot.
HANZ 4,380
Im not saying what she said was right, but people do much worse in the world you guys don't care. And again lets be honest, Red Flame would've been the best song on ARTPOP, but thats off topic. you've never heard that song so you have no idea how it sounds like , you only say it just because of Azealia where is Iggy and her Katana when you need them? My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48
iloveit123 130
Dude, for the 19th time, she's literally never given a **** about words. She has never said "omg i cant believe you said this word". She's only ever beefed over sentiments conveyed by words, not over a word itself. Furthermore, I'm not gonna just dismiss someone because I don't like their perspective. Nor am I going to characterize someone off of a minute that I saw them talk and a couple tweets. I have more maturity than that. And who said it did? My brain is starting to hurt... words, sentiments... the point is the girl DOES seem to care about something.... ok maybe she doesn't care about the specific words then.... but that doesn't mean she isn't being childish herself IMO and "not caring" when obviously she is VERY offended by the sentiment. And like I said, she could have kept this latest beef between herself and Perez, but she had to start making generalized statements about gay men. How do you expect people to react? And let's not start about how childish she is towards Iggy. And it isn't like this is the first time she said these kind of things. I've thought about her own words for a while so I feel like at least for myself, it is not a knee jerk reaction. Then you said "she's bis-xual so" and that's why I wrote what I wrote at the end. I am getting tired being of being told from you I don't understand when I do get what you are saying, but I feel like you are being a tad patronizing. Do you get that from time to time? I at least can try and see your point of view... and I've given Azealia some benefit of the doubt after her statements from last year... but the last few days, she has pushed it IMO. latinteddybear 2
and this is a constant reminder of why i left her music and why i refused to be influenced by her anymore. anyone who used to stand with the crowd and is now being a cop out JUST because of the way a group or one gay person has said to you, is really the most saddest thing to witness. and to be honest, i didnt expect her to have the knowledge and experience as other artist have but shes wrong and is influencing people for all the wrong reason. we are done with her!!!!!! Dont assume what I heard or haven't heard Plus Azealia made a better album with WAY less resources. I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you. I'm glad someone else took the time to post my opinion though I admire you a lot. Absolutely agree. I will never forget the one time there was a thread on here about pedophilia and there was one person defending pedophiles. Obviously, everyone was attacking him about "How could you ever defend pedophiles? They're disgusting and should all be locked up or killed." and this guy just kept saying "Hey, for every pedophile who acts on his feelings, there are probably five who feel the same way and will have to live alone with that feeling for the rest of their life knowing that if they ever act on it, they will be hurting someone. Those pedophiles are some of the strongest people and I admire them and I would never wish anything bad on them." Of course, people kept attacking him, but what he said stuck with me. So I've come to admire opinions that challenge the dominant narrative. That'll never change how GGD will react to things like the pedophilia debate and the language debate, but I'm glad that someone else sees that superficiality doesn't create progress. I haven't been on here as much lately because I'm studying in Spain, but I miss seeing your posts everywhere. I hope everything is going well for you. Red flame hasn't leaked tho :toofloppy: and ARTPOP is pop music and BWET is a rap/hip hop album plus music critics always voerrated hip hop and trash pop music no matter what so don't even dare to use the metattrafic score they are not the same so the comparrasion is not right Iggy where are you? Vernier 3,786
It was going so well and she was spilling over everything and everyone last night, but this I can't get behind But I've learnt to expect this from her and I'm more "headshaking disappointed", then angry Plus, I feel like she isn't going after every gay man, but specific ones, she's just doing so using words that get people riled up. Oh well. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn
