Why does Gaga have so many haters?

Like Michael Jackson once said, "the bigger the star, the bigger the target". The more one is exposed to the public, the more fans that individual would get, and the more haters as well. Fame is a magnet of adoration, and envy. It's human nature to either support someone who has achieved more than oneself or to become envious to the other person's achievements instead, if not become indifferent to it. Gaga's rise to superstardom was relatively faster than almost anyone, since it's rare for debut albums to sell as much as The Fame, and at the same time to gain as much critical acclaim as it and its immediate follow-up did. She has become a huge target from the moment TF/TFM outsold every major pop album in 2009-2010.

That alone is attracting "hatred" based on envy. And then there's her image and message, which are nowhere near traditional family-friendly or public-friendly. She's an outspoken female with pushy imagery and an equality message still not universally and fully accepted in the entire world. Let them hate her. At the end of the day, that hatred will not be the one most remembered about her. It will always boil down to talent. And if she has it, then there's nothing to worry about. The Beatles did it. Elvis did it. And Michael did it. The headlines of today do not translate the history of tomorrow. She's still young, and there are far more years ahead of her to change public perception.

:applause:  :applause:  :applause:

Most people don't look past her meat dress/ Paparazzi at the VMAs, anything that looks 'attention seeking'.

Also considering most people only know Poker Face and Just Dance, they don't know how well she can sing.

Now haters that are obsessed like other stans on Youtube comments are a whole different story.

Maybe it's because they realize Gaga has much acclaim compared to their favs.

A Beaverhausen

It has become the culture of the popular to *hate Lady gaga* anyone who does like her is seen as a freak/ weirdo/ loser. They don't see her for the person she is, except they listen to all the media drama. Gaga is a flop, She is over......Haters don't pay any attention to all the good she does and the beautiful caring/ loving person gaga is. We live in a very cynical world where we don't see the artist as a person rather as objects for us to obsess/ argue over aka Fan wars! To be honest I judged gaga for her weird outfits when she first came onto the music scene, thinking who is this crazy b---h? then once I looked her up, got to know what Gaga was all about, I fell in love with her and have been obsessed ever since. A true & original artist who has always been true to herself and WILL BE REMEMBERED as a legend. Gaga changed Pop music forever, breaking all the rules and dominating. Funny how so many people say gaga is *irrelevant* yet so many are tweeting/ talking/ obsessing over her! People expect her (gaga) to always be this auto tuned  enigma pop star and ever since she became *real* people have been confused/ scared of change. I am rambling on and on, could talk about how incredible gaga is all day!!! #Monster4Life Peace out!

I hate to say it, some of it is because of the worst among her fans and the level of pretentiousness, obnoxiousness and entitlement that comes from them.

Every fan base has their levels of this. But Little Monsters have a particularly bad reputation. I don't think it's fair to blame and take it out on Gaga the way a lot of people do, but I think that's where some of the backlash comes from. People take a lot of what Gaga's fans do and say when it's negative and transfer or attribute it to her.

I think non-fans find it overbearing which I can understand but I still think from an outsider's POV they still deem gaga as "uncool". (like Rihanna can get away with all that innuendo and s-xual stuff but gaga can't for some reason)

you become a legend once you've passed the trial of hate by the media, if they bring you down and you let them destroy your work then you'll not be strong thd personality who will live forever in the people minds. Gaga had all now she needs to rise again after the fall from grace

I think it's because feel that she is fake. Also, usually everyone likes natural, down to earth ppl, while Gaga seems to be full of herself and made by her label.

I couldn't have said it better.

There is a weird quirk of human nature that makes us HATE things when they become popular IF we don't love those things ourselves. It happens for everything from Justin Bieber to Starbucks. The more some group loves something, the more that pisses everyone else off. :)

Gaga blew up big and drowned the media, and that made everyone who didn't care about her suddenly hate her, and a lot of them haven't gotten over that.
