SlaeUrAnus 16,111
President Yahya Jammeh signs bill into law under which ‘aggravated homos-xuality’ can lead to life imprisonment. The president of Gambia has signed a bill into law that calls for life imprisonment for some homos-xual acts, the latest African country to codify harsh penalties for gay people. A copy of the legislation, obtained by the Associated Press on Friday, indicates that President Yahya Jammeh signed it on 9 October, though no government officials have publicly notified the country of the law. Jammeh, one of Africa’s most outspoken anti-gay leaders, instructed gay and lesbian people in 2008 to leave the country or risk decapitation. Politicians approved the legislation in August, prompting an outcry from human rights organisations including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. The law contains language identical to an anti-gay bill signed into law in Uganda earlier this year but later overturned by a court on procedural grounds. The Gambian law criminalises “aggravated homos-xualityâ€, and targets “serial offenders†and people living with HIV or Aids. Suspects can be charged with aggravated homos-xuality for engaging in homos-xual acts with someone who is under 18, disabled or who has been d--gged. The term also applies when the suspect is the parent or guardian of the other person, or is “in authority over†him or her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/21/gambian-leader-approves-anti-gay-law ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How awful In my messy era. Wild 1,296
Please leave the 16th century. The African continent as a whole (aside from certain countries) is severely behind in its modernization, and tolerance.

That's not really a choice, death or leave the country. The majority of people have no financial means or educational means to escape their own city let alone the country. He basically condemned them to a brutal death for being Gay. It's sad really even after all the support and work to help Africa lack of education still prevails because people get rich from oppressing people into ignorance. we are so fortune to have been born in the places we were born and to have the opportunities we do this happens so often its not news anymore= wake me up when the real story breaks "African country allows gay marriage"
