This is the truth, it's not "shade." Even lovers of pop music must recognize that what she's saying is a built in part of the genre. She isn't saying that pop music can't be great music or that pop musicians can't have talent. She *is* saying that those things are not the focus. Anybody who knows music knows the truth of that. Pop is an entertainment industry above all else, musicianship is not really near the top of required abilities. All she is saying is that, as a legit musician, she's happy to work in a genre that appreciates what she brings to the table vocally, and that talent is all that is required.
