Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama will unveil his long-awaited immigration plan Thursday evening, changing rules governing deportations that could affect millions of undocumented immigrants and setting off an explosive battle with Republicans.

Obama's prime-time address will be followed Friday by an event in Las Vegas, sources tell CNN. While exact details of his announcement aren't yet public, the basic outline of the plan, as relayed by people familiar with its planning, includes deferring deportation for the parents of U.S. citizens, a move that would affect up to 3.5 million people.

I really hope that good news comes from the President's plan, it's very sad to see so many families get broken up because of the current immigration policies.

i havent followed his policies on that

whats his opinion on the issue?

He will probably stop deportations of illegal parents of U.S. citizens using his executive power without the consent of republicans.

I honestly don't care about breaking up the families tbh. They are breaking the law--get in the country the right way. I don't sneak into a nice hotel and use all their amenities because they are nicer than what I have at home and feel entitled to it. Obama further ruining this nation with his borderline totalitarian presidency.

To Univision/Telemundo I go :legend:

CNN is airing it.

I think it's interesting how these networks aren't airing it. It's a pretty important thing. Do they consider it a "non-issue" because it won't impact whites and blacks for the most part?

Nnnnnnn...

Anyway, not too concern about this.

They would not have a path to citizenship anyway, and the actions could be reversed by a new president in two years.

Officials said the eligible immigrants would not be entitled to federal benefits  including health care tax credits  under Obama's plan.

So they just can work legally and not more.

So the won't have part of my tax money. Hah.

Maybe the White House didn't let networks know in time to adjust? Although the Bin Laden announcement happened so fast, I think it was only an hour or so after they announced SOMETHING was about to go on air.

Yeah.... the networks have clearly shown their priorities. Not surprised seeing as most voters are against immigration reform.
