They will be the ones who will have to give it all up to pay off the deficit.

If you profit off of a broken system, you will be held accountable when the time comes to fix it.

Yet the US has among the highest Corporate Tax rates in the developed world and has been increasing regulation yet the gap is growing

I still believe a free market can actually help equality because a strong wconomy helps the middle class

When the economy is weak the average person suffers the most

A free market without any type of regulation doesn't work either though. The companies then get to set wages, prices, etc. and the average person is screwed over especially then since companies will pay the lowest wages they can, and if the employees don't like it then they just hire new ones who will work for less.

No regulation is bad for consumers, they are the ones who disadvantaged and the companies get to reign free and do as they will. Some amount of regulation is therefore warranted, to guarantee competitive or at least mediocre wages and to keep companies from abusing their power and screwing over workers and consumers through anti-competitive practices.

If it wasn't for regulation, we wouldn't have minimum wage, antitrust laws, competition or checks on corporations which are already abusive and corrupt. A free market would only exacerbate these problems and make it even worse for consumers than it already is.

Well, this is the thing they mean with equal opportunities. Had somebody else done what Bill Gates did, that somebody would have 50 billion. There's nothing besides talent, motivation, intelligence and such that prevented somebody from doing the same he did, but a year earlier. You're not born in a farmer family and have to be one for the rest of your life, like in Nepal and India.

Actual factors beside skill that do unfortunately matter in the US is religion, race, s-xuality and gender. But that's something else, considering this white americans still make up for the largest part of this 90%.

nnnnn but there really aren't equal opportunities.

Why did Bill Gates get to where he is?

He had incredible privileges that allowed him to achieve what he's achieved. He's from a wealthy family who gave him the best education that money could buy (just in case you were wondering, this year, the tuition is $29,500 for the high school where he went). His expensive private school provided access to computers and even went so far as to excuse him from math classes so he could go and experiment with the computers (when's the last time you heard of that happening?). He went to Harvard, and then later dropped out (with his parents' blessing) to start his own technology business. How nice to be able to drop out and have the safety net of your family's wealth, right? How privileged to be able to take that kind of risk.

You're going to tell me that "There's nothing besides talent, motivation, intelligence and such that prevented somebody from doing the same he did, but a year earlier". So let's ask this then. You think that Bill Gates would have achieved the same if he had been born a poor, black girl living in the south side of Chicago? Or if he had been born on a farm in a rural area of Montana?

Bill Gates was privileged in every way possible. Realistically, if somebody else were to have done what Bill Gates did, they would probably have to had been privileged as well in order to even have access to that kind of technology.

Equality of opportunity would have been that everyone in the nation had the same kind of privileges that Gates' wealth afforded him. The rich have much more opportunity than the poor and anyone who argues otherwise is just flat out wrong.

Public education is, but he went to a high end private school. Depending on where you live, the quality of the public education can vary drastically.

Not all education is equal.

I heard the top 0.01% has just over 11% of the wealth, the top 0.1% has 20-something percent.

i never said u should have NO regulation. I meant we should have less

But we do to much now a days and businesses dont invest as much with higher taxes and too much regulations

If the economy is stronger... Regulations or not, people will get more money. If unemployment is low, companies actually have to compete for labor. With high unemployment tho theres no conpetition. Minimum wage becomes a standard for low skilled jobs and thats all ur gonna get.

Germany has no minimum wage. Do u see greater exploitation in Germany than in the US? Do u see a greater income inequality? No you do not!

In fact Germany and Switzerland that are more capitalist are doig better than Socialist France, Spain or Greece

A Free market has many advantages

A strong economy with less regulation is often still better for the middle class than a weak economy with no investment in socialism

Dont forget... With weak economy... Thats when exploitation really comes in cause companies will give u crap pay and ull take it. No amount of regulation will change that
