This is so sad that this guys is turkish president. The problem with Turkey is now that ignorant minorities&conservatives are united. He has around 40% vote in the country actually but opposed parties are not united so there is space for him to take power.

He is crazy for power. According to his agenda Turkey gets stronger as a state just like Russia, but loses its human rights and liberal aspects.

Turkey is one of the country who transitioned to Republic earlier than most of the world, gave women suffrage in early 19s, being decriminalized in 1858 in Ottoman Empire, now known as Turkey.

Turkey is not a muslim state, it is a secular state who has mostly muslim population.

The biggest gay parade of Eastern Europe is held in Istanbul. Turkey is much more liberal than all eastern european countries like Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia etc.

Also There are 4 political parties in national assembly now, 2 of them supports gay marriage.

Just to understand liberal side of Turkey, you can search gezi protests. #occupygezi ... This was a great rally for human rights. There are so many crazy ****s because of conservatives in all eastern europe, nobody stands up, atleast in Turkey there are enough enlightened people who stand up and fight for their rights!

WHAT THIS GUY SAYS CONCERN HIM not a whole community....

Openly Gay, Openly Atheist, born and raised Istanbulite here.

And Turkey has both territory on europe and on asia. Culturally too western part is more liberal, eastern part is more conservative.

The delusion. Honey choose first which continent your country belongs to before talking about discovering other people's countries.

some of them like to claim a lot of things 4 themselves

like science innovations etc of the quran + muaslim society 1000 years ago being the science centre of the world

tho this was what over a millenium ago and may be true but get with the times

didn't they also claim that evolution was in the Qur'an long before darwin came along? :rip:

i don't know which is worse. xtians who get pissed when science disproves biblical claims, or muslims who try and take credit after scientists have made a discovery.

Parts of Turkey is in Europe. So it's both. Educate yourself on geography, thanks

Dude, of course I know that ca. 3 % of Turkey is located in Europe. But this is in my opinion no reason for the EU to talk with the Turkish Government about any kind of accession negotiations. On top of that Turkey is already a member of ECO, where they geographically better fit in.

And do yourself a favour and don't try to teach me about geography, Simon.

Yes, but it's still partly part of Europe :spin: Also culturally West Turkey is very close to Europe.

Cyprus is geographically not part of Europe but is still cultrurally.

I won't teach you on geography when you make true statements :rip:

Maybe you would have understood my post, if I would have typed "Please Asia. Not Europe. THX." - but I doubt it...

Since you didn't write "please", your post was pretty clear.
