Retep 0
While on surface level this may not be good for people with more liberal minded values, in the long run if the Republicans f*ck up and don't progress on anything they'll wind up shooting themselves in the foot for the next presidential election. In the end, politics within our country has just become a pissing match with limited progress as a result of it. Both parties are more worried who's represented rather than helping the issues at hand.
Dayman 6,251
This means nothing. Republicans and Democrats are all different individually. They just have a shared name - don't let Fox or NBC fool you they fight for the same issues as each other. This means nothing other than people liked their platforms. It bounces back and forth like this constantly, so don't act like its the end of the world because the balance is intact. Having both parties alternate is a good thing, they keep each other in check from getting too crazy one way or another.
Goosey 3,017
NO ONE is going to take guns away in the US. We are talking about restrictions that involve better background checks and control of certain types of guns to certain age groups or in a VERY few cases, the average citizen. Americans are still free to own a hundred guns and to get a permit to carry a weapon. IF you move to the US, and become a legal citizen, you will have those same rights and yes- you will be able to own guns and even carry one with a permit. Oh really,so you're telling me no one is proposing banning so-called "assault weapons"? That no one is trying to ban so-called "high-capacity" magazines? Let me ring Mayor Bloomberg, Obama and Miss Feinstein and check up on this! "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J. SychosSoChic 9,995
Well that must suck. I'll be waiting a little longer before moving to the US I suppose. You don't even live in America, why would you care?? Don't make the mistake of thinking the US' decisions don't have an impact on the rest of the world. For better or for worse, America is constantly being watched by an international audience. Anything too conservative or controversial is talked about in the rest of the world. Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us.

I know, but more gun regulation is not one of those things that are going to affect a foreigner unless they're moving here, and most foreigners WANT us to have more gun regulation. LaLuna 12,732
There's no freaking reason that they should be. His policies and his entire administration has been insurmountably better then that of George W. Bush's, who coincidentally almost plunged the entire world into a second great depression that Obama resurrected the country from. Hey, I never said they were right to be dissatisfied, I was just stating a fact. They were just as fed up with Bush by the end of his term. It's just a case of history repeating itself. That no one is trying to ban so-called "high-capacity" magazines? Let me ring Mayor Bloomberg, Obama and Miss Feinstein and check up on this! From my comment you quoted: NO ONE is going to take guns away in the US. Americans are still free to own a hundred guns and to get a permit to carry a weapon.... Where do you live anyway? Why do you think you are going to be allowed to come to the US and apply for citizenship? Do you have a parent who is a US citizen or something? SISTERV 3,887
the US economy is doing amazing right now. I dont get why even bigger growth would seem necessary? This is pretty disappointing. If this continues, there goes the possibility of peace in the Middle East, economic growth in West-Africa, acceptance of trans/gay humans, etc. America will become even more hated by the rest of the world, the population will get fatter, CO2 emission will increase, the industry will become even more money-orientated.. And then the Democrats can try to clean up the mess after 4/8 years again. Just because the White House tweets that the economy is "doing well" doesn't mean it is. This is all lies to keep the democrats image from being tainted in the upcoming presidential election. First of all if you knew about economics at all, even Econ 101 you would know that infact, the American economy is not in a healthy state. Yes.....a plethora of jobs have been created recently. But what type of jobs? Minimum wage, part-time jobs. According to projections from the state department, by spring 2015 it will be impossible for a SINGLE independent citizen to financially afford a car and apartment and basic living expenses on a minimum wage job. No matter how many hours you work. Why did this happen? In large part, government healthcare. Many tout that universal healthcare works in Europe. But in works in micro levels where budgets are balanced. We have an age where baby boomers (the largest generation in American history, and the unhealthiest) are dying at the quickest rate ever, and young people who can't even afford an apartment are expected to pay for these people into a failing system? The healthcare act also affected large employers that hire many people. It says that businesses MUST provide health insurance to employees that work full time (40 hours or more a week). So what do companies do....they start cutting hours. This allows them to have high turnover on mass scale creating tons of jobs that require no education. (Like fast food restaurants). Ironically, in turn, the democrats don't realize they are promoting the growth of big chains like McDonalds and Burger King (there went your healthy eating), and making young people vulnerable to an ever-changing work environment. and hold on it.....it get's worse. The democrats have a solution right? And that solution is to: promote the concept that the minimum wage be increased at quick inflated levels so people can "afford to live." Let me explain why that won't work: Now we have all these people working minimum wage part-time jobs right?? (mind you after being in large amounts of debt to the government because they took out student loans just to get an education) So that means there are more people than ever working for these mega corporations (who the democrats know will fund them via lobbying), and when that minimum wage increases, what does the company do? They cut employees. And they raise their prices. That means less jobs, with little benefits, and rising prices on basic needs like food and basic household items. Looks like that extra $100 a month you get from the minimum wage hike isn't really helping you. It's actually hurting you. Because everything is inflated. Here is why the republicans will fix this: What happens when we lower taxes? Companies have more money. Now any democrat will convince you that some big CEO is just going to stuff that extra cash into his pocket and not give it to the "hardworking middle class." Ahem....this is historically inaccurate. America...being the most giving country on the planet has a free market. And businesses end goal is to make the most profit they can. How do they do that when they have extra cash lying around? Well....these are business people....they are going to reward their employees, improve the quality of their products, and offer it at the cheapest most accessible rate possible so they can make more money. That means better quality, more benefits for employees, and more affordability. It also allows small businesses that want to grow to have that chance and not have to go through the many "fees" and loops that the government creates for these people. So please....tell me the economy is "thriving". We live in an under employed, low earning, bored age economically. The democrats have disenfranchised small business by trying to control because THEY want more money for their political agenda. The problem is that really shouldn't be the federal governments job...at all. It should be up to individuals and people to make the decisions with THEIR money. Whispering 18,865
Where you getting this information from? It's not slim to none, it's actually a very good chance she will be our next president if she runs. The Pubs have no star. Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul are too conservative, that will alienate the swing voters. Chris Christie is too liberal, that will alienate the conservative base like it did with Romney. The only ones who I think could even come close to beating her are Huckabee (But he won't run) Pataki or Bush the third (Fmr. Florida Gov.) If you read my comment, you would see that 90% of it said that it hinged on nominating someone who was acceptable by the American Public. I don't even think it matters if the nominee is conservative, they just need to stay the hell away from issues that impact women's rights and get closer to being moderate on immigration and they will have enough Americans who are worried about the economy and about terrorism to insure a win. Those are going to be the two issues people are focused on in the next two years. Not that a Republican president could really do anything of great significance about either of these complicated issues...but people will think that it could make a difference...and that's all that it will take.
