It's actually because her promotion is bad since Troy left, and she is not driven to succeed anymore. She didn't promote G.U.Y, she didn't give DWUW a video (so what if If the original video got scrapped, she could have done another one, even a basic floppy video like TEOG's would have helped)

So she's not popular because:

She's doesn't promote her stuff well enough

She does not try hard enough anymore

and now that fans do know more about her, it seems many wish they didn't.

Thats kinda sad actually.  People prefer a specific persona over the real woman.

Hmmmm. I don't think it's because they prefer the persona over the woman. I think it's the intrigue of wanting to know who is the "real woman" underneath the persona that has got people invested in Gaga, not the persona itself.

I agree with most of it, though I think it'd be better if she would not wear crazy costumes.

It's the complete opposite of what she has done all the time - people will start talking about "how normal Gaga dresses", especially tabloids will catch up on it. Free promo.

It would be so stupid for her to wear normal costumes, she Lady Gaga, she's crazy and out there..... Why go normal, normals boring.

Honestly, I think she's not as popular because people look at her as the gay icon she is, and they feel that if they admit to liking her music or even listen to it then they will be labeled "gay".

Prefect example: My cousin was gonna buy a Gaga poster they were selling at her college in 2011 but didn't want her roommates/friends to think she was a lesbian, she was a huge fan in 2009

If the music is good, people will listen.

Good marketing, promo, etc. can only help good music, they can't replace good music. Bad promo can hurt all the time.

What hurt Gaga is not having uber radio friendly singles that caught the world by storm. The music is still good, but it's not PF, BR, JD, Paparazzi, Telephone caliber (with regard to having single potential).

I actually think that outside of the fanbase people do still see her as an enigma, despite her opening up more. Without being rude, most people don't know about or care for her struggles unless they're a fan.

Too many blackouts and problems with her team + depression post hip injur y + extemely bad media press. She was the fearless enigmatic pop star people thought she was a godlike human but nobody is perfect thats all

This

a regular, basic pop star..?!

Gurl f*cking Bye.

If there's one thing Gaga is not, it's a regular, basic pop star.

And actually this, i don't listen pop girls, except for Gagz

So NO! Gagz is not a regular basic pop star

me too.  I'm not a RedOne hater (Bad Romance IS one of my top 5 favorite Gaga tunes), but his songs often feel crafted according to a  "successful pop song check list".  Making sure there are ear worm worthy hooks and big choruses are part of the formula, but after a while they start to sound forced just for the sake of making something "catchy".

For the sake oflongevity, BTW should have happened a few years later. She should have milked the success of TFM.

There's a few key reasons why her career has declined.

1. She's become predictable - At first all of the outlandish outfits and constant, daily image overhauls were exciting and well executed.  There was some real thought behind the costuming, and clearly this was because she was working with a much stronger team.  Six years later, she's arguably fallen into a rut image-wise and the outfits are now no longer enough to sustain the GP's interest.  Most of the looks from this era have been a hot mess honestly.

2. She became way overexposed -  The public just became exhausted with her being everywhere all the time.

3.  The rabid fan-base - Let's face it, she aligned herself too closely with a fan-base that was made up of social misfits that alienated most of the general public.  Her fan base became increasingly aggressive towards anyone who criticized Gaga, and they posted some really hateful stuff about other people.

4.  It all comes back to the music - ARTPOP is just not a stellar album like TF or TFM, or BTW.  I personally believe that BTW was her most accomplished record.  Applause had a catchy hook, but honestly lyrically it was just too bizarre and polarizing.

5.  She started to take herself way too seriously and sounded pretentious and out of touch.

6.  Too much self-victimizing.  Fans want a strong powerful female voice, not someone whining about their career decline.
