But personally, even if it fails to become as efficient as they hope, theres also the fact that long term fossils will become more and more expensive Cheap oil is virtually exhausted. Practically the only remaining cheap liquid oil is in Middle East and a few other reserves here and there... While theres LOTS of oil left, potentially for centries more, most of new recoverable reserves are in unconventional forms auch as oil sands or shale rock formations which are much more expensive to extract Many expect oil prices to go well above $150/barrel by 2020 (unless economy stays chronically ill and fails to recover) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

While limits have been predicted and surpassed previously, these are not within 35 years of current technology. :P I believe it is substantially more likely that there will be a development in nuclear energy. theres lots of things that we achieved that 35 years ago wed say was impossible. Humans underestimate themselves over and over again But u do have a point with the nuclear thing. Solar may improve but so will other forms of energy, so taking that into account, the competition may still be there Also i guess depends where... For instance where i live in Canada, our hours of sunlight in the winter months are rather short making solar bad for this region no matter how efficient it gets Nuclear is actually 51% of our power in my Province (Ontario), Hydro-Electricity from dams is 2nd place and i think natural gas is 3rd... Solar is only 4th or 5th Hmmm i believe there is still a while till it can be become widespread but hey progress is good and much needed.there is. But were talking about the future here. When I visited the country, many of the houses from Munich to Heidelberg to Dresden to Berlin had solar panels facing south like one big energy safe mob. I hope the States let this catch on as well.
