I find she lacks that true mega star charisma that defines a queen of pop. She needs to break free from this high school girl persona like Miley did but not just like how Miley did because look where that got her.

I kind of agree tbh. I feel like she's there but not quite there at the same time.

Not even being shady or rude but what impact has she had? On the charts? Sure. But on the industry?

Talent? Her voice is sweet and all but nothing I'd die over or anything but Madonna didn't have a great voice either (imo) but at least Madonna was good at dancing. And quite frankly, I find Taylor's lyrics a bit boring. Or unhealthy.

Her sales slay. :applause:

Selenz Gomez, Demi Lovato and Miley cyrus are all very popular on social media. Why? Because they're young tween fans will blow up your timelines with links to this weeks best hair do. Nothing great. And back to Madonna, who I don't even like, had no social media stuff to back up her case.

Critical acclaim? Yeah. But Erotica wasn't praised by everyone for it's whole scandal but remains an iconic album + era. (I know, I sound like a Madonna stan but I'm really not).

EXACTLY :applause:

Impressive album sales do not a queen of pop make. I'm not deluding myself, Taylor is slaying right now, but to call her the "true queen of pop" based on album sales seems a bit exaggerated. She will never have the cultural impact of Madonna or Gaga, she just doesn't have the charisma or that je-ne-sais-quoi that a true queen of pop has.

it is weird ppl are hating so hard on her on here and other places. I wasnt a fan before but this albums great. good for her. I respect her because unlike some other artists who do a lot to copy other artists who are popular at the time, she definitely has been doing her own thing. not saying shes the most original person in the world, but she wasnt trying to dress crazy like gaga when gaga was the on top, like so many girls did. she has always been herself, no gimmick and its paid off for her! GO TAYLOR... i believe unlike a lot of the girls out there now, she will be around for a lonnnngggg time

Whispering

I am not really that impressed because the previous title holder was Ed Sheeren for 2014. Ed Sheeren. This has been a weak year.

The previous title holder for 2014 was Coldplay, not Ed Sheeran.

The year before that was JT, with 968,000. Taylor will pass the record for 2013, as well.

Only 18 albums have sold a million in a single week since SoundScan started track sales in 1991. (Guess who has three of those million selling first weeks? ;) )

I'm so here for Taylor being called the "New Queen" over KP anyday. At least T.Swift has great songwriting skills and can actually sing even if Taylor's voice is a little weak. Her music is catchy and all, but just ordinary and nothing particularly special or extraordinary. Alas, only Gaga is the Queen in my eyes, regardless of the sales she pulls or charts she's on.

Happy for Taylor being so successful in such a mediocre music sales kind of world we are in now. She deserves it more than any of the other pop girls (except for Gaga of course) cause she actually has some integrity unlike every other pop b*tch. At least someone is making music sell!

I am scared she's gonna break Britney's record. Good for her though! I really do love the album.

I don't care if she's doing Pop now, I don't really consider her a "pop girl". And she's certainly not the #1 Pop Girl if we must say that she is one. I don't care how many number ones she has or how many albums she sells, Gaga will always remain on top as the #1. Her integrity, quality, compassion and bravery as well as willingness to push boundaries and just not give a f*ck will always make her superior to the other pop b*tches :legend::gaga:

However, I am happy for Taylor and all her success :applause:

The only one today other than Gaga who is deserving of such success

I'm happy for Taylor. She stayed real to herself and it's about to reach this incredible goal for the THIRD time. Unstoppable. And the best of all is that Speak Now, Red and 1989 are pretty good country/pop albums.

I don't think there was another pop singer since Gaga around 2010-2011 that truly deserved to be the IT girl as Taylor Swift these days.
