I went to a pirating site today to see the downloads (don't judge I'm buying it later :koons: ) and the downloads were the highest I've seen on an album... it was incredible how many it had in less than a day

So I think it's just that she appeals to a wider audience

Taylor Swift is EXTREMELY irrelevant in terms of sales in Europe. Most people don't even know her here, but she is HUGE in the US and Canada, that's a fact, no doubt.

Taylor slays because she appeals to a wide audience and her business decisions are on point. 

She's a little vanilla for my taste, but she not only knows she's vanilla, she proudly owns it, rocks it and pretty much does everything about that vanilla right. 

 

Wide audience? Her success is targeting a narrow audience of conventional young white women, and doing it very well.

She doesn't try for gays, or hipsters, or old people into jazz. Her boyfriend bashing songs don't appeal to guys either.

Taylor is for the high school girls who didn't understand Gaga and bullied her.  Gaga is too weird to "taylor" her songs and image for that demo.

That's what I was trying to get at when I wrote the thread. A huge factor for the sales has to be parents and their children. All these people are saying that young fans could pirate her music but I don't see my ten year old niece using a Youtube to MP3 converter, you know?
