Taylor Swift's young fans not savvy enough to steal her music

I'm saying that she makes all of the decisions.

I'm sure she has a team, mostly of family. She's the calculated genius behind it all.

Or at least that's how her Label wants her to be seen.

She was the label when it was just her and the CEO.

Yes she has young fans, but they're not babies. I started downloading stuff in 2006 when I was 12 years old, so if today an 8 year old has an iPhone with Instagram and Twitter, I'm sure they'll know how to download stuff.

I think it's just the flawless promo and marketing. And the fact that she appeals to everybody :ohwell:

who will love me when the night is over

I think it's more that Taylor appeals to a different demographic than most of the other popstars do and she has a massive fan base. She's also a marketing genius. If it were age based then Katy would be pulling Taylor's numbers.

It's science, bitch

Taylor has plenty of young fans, but she really sells the way she does cause she appeals to every demographic (male + female, straight + gay, kids + adults) and people take her seriously as an artist, so they feel compelled to actually buy her album instead of just listening to it. Her incredible promo team also helps.

I don't think it takes much to download music illegally, like I don't think it's hard to do so at a younger age :laughga: I think she just appeals to a wider demographic so there's more chance that her sales will be higher

As for illegal downloads, I admit to doing it. I have difficulty streaming music due to my connection, but am able to download torrents. This is how I test drive an album. If I like it, I buy the physical. If I don't, I delete right away. There have also been a few occasions though where an album I purchased was destroyed or stolen, so torrents came in handy. I fully believe in paying, but I'm not going to throw away my hard earned money for something I didn't like. In Gaga's case, I've liked every album she has put out, so first chance I got I purchased a copy (usually physical). But other artists have disappointed, so theirs gets deleted right away. I think it's fair. And it's not just the artists that are affected. There are crews of writers, producers, etc who should be paid as well.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Taylor Swift is EXTREMELY irrelevant in terms of sales in Europe. Most people don't even know her here, but she is HUGE in the US and Canada, that's a fact, no doubt.

Oh really? I never knew that! Then again, I don't know much about sales overseas, besides that Lily Allen got a number 1 for Sheezus and C2C didn't do that well.

Taylor slays because she appeals to a wide audience and her business decisions are on point.

She's a little vanilla for my taste, but she not only knows she's vanilla, she proudly owns it, rocks it and pretty much does everything about that vanilla right. What's more, unlike a lot of young stars out there that snort their money up their nose, she went out and purchased a crapload of amazeballs real estate that makes me forever jealous and I'd totally do the same. I tip my hat to her.

Personally I have been struggling to find TS's album in two countries (talking about her old one).

And she's not in tabloids either, unlike Katy Perry, Rihanna, Britney Spears or Gaga.

I'm sure if Gaga would start holding private listening parties at her mansion, not be so controversial, and wouldn't have that "music not the bling" attitude, then she'd probably sell more albums.

Overall Taylor has the perfect management and fanbase (loyal and not really 'rebellious'). Also, parents don't mind buying their children the new Taylor album, it's just a bunch of great love songs that don't contain any curse words.

She has been around for longer than Gaga has.

Many of her fans are older than Gaga's fans. :smh:

Why is it so hard to accept that people like her. This is turning into a Prism fiasco where people (not people, just monsters) do whatever they can to discredit an artist that is more successful than Gaga for whatever reason. Just accept it.

Hello Mr. Radio

This is the same reason Katy sells so well. Young girls aren't as savvy with illegal computer stuff. That, and the fact that Taylor has such a great relationship with her fans and her albums are always really great.

That's what I was trying to get at when I wrote the thread. A huge factor for the sales has to be parents and their children. All these people are saying that young fans could pirate her music but I don't see my ten year old niece using a Youtube to MP3 converter, you know?
