MyQueen 2,409 Posted October 24, 2014 Share Posted October 24, 2014 In the entire nation's history only one amendment has been repealed (the 18th - Prohibition, which made the selling and manufacturing of alcohol illegal) so it's not that easy. The Constitution was not designed so it could be changed easily. Plus we have the NRA lobbying in Washington D.C. The real reason they don't even want to have stronger gun control is because they don't want to stop selling guns. Corporate greed is above people's lives apparently. You can't stop people who want to buy guns from buying them. It's like smoking. We know cigarettes are bad yet they keep being produced and people keep buying them. This makes sense too when considering it was the militia especially that helped fight in as well as bring on the American Revolution. Yea reading it, it is a little confusing as to what it's actually referring to, the militia or the people. It's just that the NRA is larger than life, and no one knows what to do about it {yet}. It's really sad and pathetic that one needs a license for fishing, marriage, driving, and whatever else, but NOT to buy guns, in fact, ID isn't required in many states. Some dude on FB (NOT a friend of mine - I just read his comment) said he recently purchased an assault weapon and a sniper rifle, cash, no questions asked. What does the average citizen need with a sniper rifle, but that's another story I guess. That 11:00 news is coming. Private gun sales go on here like mad, which are not regulated by the govt. I shudder to think of the weapons that pass hands around this country daily and it's not regulated at all. I would think that even though it's hard to make any change regarding the Constitution - this should be worth fighting for. People talk about their "rights". What about the rights young people have to learn and make something of themselves without getting shot? What about the right of the woman who wants to leave her abusive boyfriend, without fear of getting shot? What about the innocent bystanders who walk into a store or restaurant and are trapped in a crossfire? If people want their damn money so badly, take it, but it will be full of bullet holes and blood.
