TimisaMonster 31,073
She was pressured by everyone..do u remember the blackout from DWUW and after? :madge: You mean the entire ARTPOP era and even before it started....girl was addicted to weed, was having behind the scenes issues with Interscope about the album (why she leaked Aura), had to keep adjusting the songs and therefore it's "meaning and concept", and she didn't even get the era started off right with Applause (she wanted Aura), etc...she was a mess before it even started Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! LikeAnAngel 0
Well she did say it. I'm glad she talked about it, it's relieving to see that she has those kinds of struggles and yet is so successful. I'm just not very satisfied about combining the BTW message with medical issues. I know what she means, but you know, does a teenager know what she means?
spikeydawson 0
What she said here resonates a lot with Robin William's death and about how people judged him for committing suicide. I'm glad she brought it up, as mental illness and depression are often not regarded seriously enough, aka as illnesses of sorts!
llbcherry 591
All this talk about neurotransmitters (such as serotonin and norepinephrine, dopamine, etc) is rubbing me the wrong way. Let's not forget ALL of this psychiatry is an unproven theory. I have been on an SSRI for 20 years. trust me, I know. They don't know for sure what causes depression. They don't fully understand how, or IF, these medications even work... That is all.
Psychedelic 1,098
Can you share more about this? You say "even if their actual depression time was long before," Do you mean someone can have a depressing time then the way it affects their brain chemistry is such that the brain can't produce the serotonin or dopamine in the future because of the event? But then would the brain start producing it again? I didn't know this either! I'm used to working with people who need to be on meds basically for life, so I'm not well-versed on taking them temporarily. I know it's possible, but I don't know the science or logistics behind it. Are the meds then used as a sort of crutch while your brain works on making the necessary chemicals on its own? Yes, I actually had a depressing time back in 2011 due to very hard situations in my life at that time but got thru it normally, and it wasn't until almost 1 year later in 2012 when I started feeling anxiety out of nothing and having panic attacks for no reason. I went to the doctor and he explained this to me, even if my life seemed to back on track and I thought everything was okay, my brain was affected by previous events, leading it to stop producing these chemicals. He prescribed me with meds for over 1 year and I barely needed any psychological therapy 'cuz things were actually fine on the outside already. I just stuck to the treatment (which btw gives you lots of bad side-effects within the first copuple of weeks) and then started getting off by reducing doses and timings little by little otherwise you can develope withdrawal symptoms. It's been 1 year since I'm off those meds and I feel great!
J e s s e 454
Same for me, except it's for my anxiety :flutter: "They have as much in common as dinosaurs and goldfish: the cracker kind!" - Penelope Garcia
croboy 1,212
Did she say she has another mental illness besides depression? At the show she said" I take medication for mental illness and depression" No she only talked about depression and that she also can get anxiety and takes some ice out of the freezer, puts it in her hands. It's to take off her mind and then she tells herself "I'm ****ing Lady Gaga, I can do this"! :)
AdelaAngelo 0
are you seriously surprised ? have you even heard Princess Die and Dope? we've known she's been struggling with depression for years its normal she takes antidepressants (especially at the end of 2013 she really reached the bottom i dont see how sb could miss that...) Can you? I had a depression for 2 years..I was laughing sometimes of course but I was never "happy" yes u can. i can say i am happy now and i've been for the last few months. but that does not change the fact i was depressed for almost 2 years. and with mental diseases they never go away. so even though i'm having a bright period now i know it will come back at some point but yeah, sure u can and once u do its all up to how long u are gonna let it last
