If they're committed to it, it's not just a part time/job only clothing. Absolutely yes. Like I said there are different kind of nuns, there are also the ones that never dress with the classic nun clothing, they're called laic nuns, but also the classic ones are allowed to wear a swimsuit, have you idea how many nuns work with children or disable people and during the summer they bring them to the beach, there aren't restrictions, obviously they're not gonna wear a bikini or a thong. If you don't believe me, do a research, I personally know nuns that do that, same for priests, they also have their Facebook profile, Twitter, a car, they have a normal life, if they are invited to theatre they go without the classic dress, it's not obligatory for them wear the classic clothes all the time or the veil. She wanted to swim with her kids, in what she stated was "an Islamic dress with clothes underneath". The community pool does allow Burqini swimwear and full body swimsuits. If she would have been dressed in one of these appropriate options, she would have been allowed to swim in the pool. If this woman wants to swim in public pools, she should invest in appropriate swimwear, because it is available and it is allowed at public pools. She wanted to show up in her everyday clothes and swim and no one is allowed to do that at this community pool. She's not a victim of discrimination. Qualle1 1,385 Posted October 15, 2014 Share Posted October 15, 2014 they aren't discriminating against her because she's muslim. it was her clothing causing a safety issue. the sign is there for anyone to see. the real problem here is that people are used to their religion trumping anything and everything. felt bad for her because she was crying, but wearing a full body swimsuit is not going to send you to hell. the fact that these women are scared to show their arms and legs in public because they've been indoctrinated as children is what's really troubling. In this case I'm agree with the "pool", especially for the hygiene-safety reasons, if there is a "dress" code based on safety reasons you have to respect that, it's not like the story of the boxer vs slip. I don't wanna sound rude but these people can't expect to live in a modern occidental country (like USA) with their ancient traditions at all and demand to be accepted, especially if we talk about the burqua-veil issue, also because if a occidental woman go to their country has to put the veil and follow their rules with no objections. I'm originally form Australia, and they're demanding they change "Australians day" to "Citizens Day", to get rid of Christmas/Santas in malls, etc like seriously, you can't move to a country and expect them to bow down to your every command. Same issue here also about this argument Plus, in the classrooms of the schools here for example or offices, there is often a 'cross' in sign of protection, and they demand to take them down. There is a big issue about that. I'm not a religious person, but the christian cross is part of our culture and even the not-believers people recognized that. Then she should leave the country and do what she wants to do in occident in the country she came from. That's all for me, there're no debates, no crying and no bull****, you want to act like an anti-occidental, then you leave. The one that doesn't have respect is definitely her. She wants to change the rule of the country she went to, then why did she went in? Why did people let her came if she put in danger their way of life? She definitely have to leave by acting this way. There're place when you don't wear islamic dress as a woman it's dangerous to walk there and there're the same problem with pools. Rules changed and now muslim take some pools for hours just to let the islamic Mama with dark dress in it. Whereas it's digusting in many ways (property and for others people that want to swim). In your first post you said in general how they need to follow Western culture and they don't. Just like Western countries who colonized them didn't follow arab/african cultures but rather tried to destroy them.
