Gov Hooka 8,008
Not like the Native Americans discovered a continent for them to inhabit.
Morphine Prince 109,892
Muricans were once English men. Blame England Well, basically European nations are responsible for it when they came here and then the new nations established continued the genocide. HANZ 4,380
What the Aztecs and Iroquios did to their neighbours was inhuman too. Not to say they were worse than 15-17th century Europeans, but if they had the technology and numbers it's a good bet they would have done the same to alien cultures on another continent. but they didn't and at the end, the native americans were the massacred and raped ones and their land was unfairly stolen forever My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48
craig 680
People used to think the Europeans were morally superior just because they had greater technology and numbers and they won. We reject that now, but it's equally silly to think Euros were worse because they had better technology and numbers and they won.

What you're doing is taking standards of human rights that were developed by 20th Europeans and and applying them selectively to past Europeans, just because they were successful large scale conquerors. Read about Genghis Khan, and the Pilgrims don't look so bad.

Read about Genghis Khan, and the Pilgrims don't look so bad. But what Khan did does not negate what Pilgrims/North American settlers did either. I'm confused, you brought up Aztec behavior against their neighbors to show that Europeans were not the only ones who massacred. BUT that doesn't change the fact that Euro exploitation in the Americas was a bloody and tragic affair that left its print. Why is Spanish Mexico's prominent language and not Nahuatl, for example? And Portuguese in Brazil for that matter? Not to mention that Spanish used the brutality they saw of the Americans (sacrificial altars with stench of blood, warriors wearing a fellow warrior's skin after ritualistic duels done during the Xipe Totec Festival, etc.) as evidence that they were barbarians and further justified landgrabs and genocides. Goosey 3,017
[...] more accurately known as Take your land and kill or enslave all your people Day.Ummm...Nah, I'll stick with Columbus Day. Interesting story though! :awkney: "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J.
