There is basically no difference between MediaTraffic & MusicCharts.

Some people like MT's layout more, so that's probably why its more popular :toofunny:

This how it basically works:

An album is #10 in a certain country. They have sales info for the #1 album only. MediaTraffic decides to divide it by 6 and Musicharts divides it by 5 in order to estimate the sales for that album. That's where the difference comes from.

Neither is accurate. All are estimations at the end.

I'll wait for IFPI as they're the most reliable and accurate. Mills a while back some week or two ago posted (and imo dragged and clocked everyone using non IFPI numbers) a good post detailing how IFPI is the best source to use. I admit that until we get IFPI numbers though for weekly sales we should stick to mediatraffic.

Disclaimer: the above was my

correct

opinion

Yes, they sold albums to the retailers (that's why it says worldwide sales)  but the retailers didn't sell it to people so it's basically shipments.  :xtina:

I'm just joking  :witchderp:

IFPI reports only the top 10 selling of the year, so we won't know any numbers for C2C anyway, or any further numbers for ARTPOP

There's not a big difference between both sites... I decide to believe Mediatraffic because  wefollow this one since the start and even if it's a bit lower in sales, that's still very good !

ARTPOP has SOLD 2M+
And has shipped 3M+ for sure

Anyone saying ARTPOP has sold less than 2M or that ARTPOP has shipped 2.3M is simply wrong and would prefer to sacrifice logical thinking and believe an unreliable source that doesn't use all sales.

What kind of label you have to be, in order to ship only 2.3M copies WW, when that's how much Gaga's last album sold in less than 2 weeks WW ?  Of course they didn't expect the same sales, but 2.3M can simply NOT be shipments (even if its only for 2013).

By this logic, Born This Way is at 6.2M WW which is also wrong, it has sold well over 7M.

That is true unfortunately... But we can wait for label numbers which usually match IFPI's. Unfortunately without ifpi the label might inflate them...

And I know coop was joking but to anyone using that logic IFPI would still say SHIPPED to retailers instead of SOLD. And mess again this topic :toofunny: please no WPs but it seems that every now and then we should remind people not to rely on just mediatraffic.

Cheek To Cheek might be stable and will rise with the holidays but it will struggle to reach Platinum imo.

lol are y'all having this convo again :rip:

everyone has the right to use the numbers that they think are right

I think you should comment this to the person that I answered.
