Go to a Hot Topic and look at the shirt section, then go to Twitter and look at follower counts, and finally look at the album sales. These guys went from opening twice for arena's and stadiums (and doing small sold out gigs at medium venues) to a full US arena tour in 2015 that's selling well. 1D isn't really losing anything profit wise anytime soon, they're also almost separating younger fans from older fans and still keeping dat youth Katy money through 5SOS.
