Woman who Gaga counter-sued: "They are suing me to scare YOU"

Yeah this, the backfire isn't really necessary. The case being dropped is fine enough. Poor Rebecca has to pay 1.4 million.  :fat:

I kind of agree that the 1.4 million cipher is an exagerated amount of money. On the other hand, this woman should've thought better before trying to literally steal money from someone who happens to be rich and famous. It's pretty evident that Juda and Judas are completely different songs. She wanted to get some easy money, and now she's paying for it.

1.4 million is excessive though. I understand trying to regain some of the money lost fighting the case, and I understand the importance of deterring others but she doesn't have 1.4 million and Gaga is doing alright for herself.

Make her pay a smaller sum that isn't going to financially destroy her and her family. Surely they can work out a sum that she can actually pay, a sum that is of great expense to her but isn't completely crippling.

The sum will be reduced no matter what, but this is a huge deterrent from future problems, and also shows an active defense for your "Copyright" and "Trademarks"

Most likely General deterrence. It discourages this behaviour for not only this girl but for anyone else who thinks they can squeeze money out of people who are "famous"

This. Plus, she's right: Gaga IS a corporation. And a lot of money surrounds her. That's a fact. Attacking their reputation makes them lose A LOT of money. This chick should've realized from the beginning that suing Lady Gaga for plagiarism is foolish, it's extremely foolish. They are punishing her, and she was being irrational if she didn't think this would happen.

edit: also it's extremely likely that she'll end up having to pay nothing at all, and just spending a lot of time doing extremely boring paper work. I think she's also right about that: it's a message.

Oh, I'm just visiting-

This illustrates the need to filter lawsuits to only substantial and viable cases only.

Everything else is a waste of time and money.

Do your own research.

Her delusional fans.

Her little Juda's trying to defend her.

:toofunny:

How she even has "fans" is beyond me. Probably because she is a true musician :flop:

I think that is the likely outcome. Most lawsuits state exorbitant amounts from outset and this gets negotiated down in a settlement.

I mean obviously we're biased because we're all gaga fans but I mean it is a huge coincidence that her boyfriend knows DJ White Shadow I mean what are the chances of that... even tho we all know RedOne produced the tune.
