Prometheus 1,494
Apple and Beats Music definitely have one thing in common: the cool factor. These products are largely coveted for their simplistic, streamline, and elegant style combined with excellent marketing strategies. Thus, although Apple’s $3 billion acquisition of Beats in May was a shocking announcement, it made sense, especially because Apple products have historically lacked in the sound quality department. Additionally with a decline in music sales and an overall trend towards music streaming platforms, iTunes has been in need of a face-lift. It has been largely speculated what Apple’s plans are for the company, and as always, Apple has done what they do best; they have sealed their lips and thrown away the key. Recently TechCrunch’s Josh Constine has reported that Apple will shut down Beats Music. Allegedly, many prominent figures from both Apple and Beats Music have hinted at this, and several Beats employees have already been transitioned to Apple-related projects. One supporting case is that of Ian Rogers, former Beats Music chief executive, who was relocated to iTunes Radio shortly after the acquisition. TechCrunch writes: “It’s not clear when exactly Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre’s music service will be shut down or what Apple will do with streaming, but every source with knowledge of the situation that we talked to agreed Apple plans to sunset the Beats Music brand.†However after this article was released, Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr publicly denied this statement, saying that Beats Music would not be shutting down. TechCrunch later updated their article: “It seems quite possible that the Beats Music product could be rolled into iTunes rather than being ‘shuttered’, but that’s semantics. Apple’s response really depends on the interpretation of ‘shut down’. If Apple rolls Beats Music into iTunes and removes the dedicated Beats Music app from the App Store, I would call that being shut down. Beats Music itself came from a ‘rebranding’ aka shutdown of the MOG music streaming service it acquired. We’ll see what happens if and when Apple adds streaming to iTunes, but its doubtful that Apple will maintain Beats Music as its own brand and independent product.†Peter Kafka from Re/code also agrees: “Shuttering the Beats Music brand name makes some sense, as the company hadn’t generated a ton of traction before Apple bought it in May  at that time, it only had a few hundred thousand subscribers.†What’s more, according to The New York Times, Apple has a history of acquiring companies and shutting them down. Embark, HopStop, and Lala are all examples of this. Secrecy seems to be the key to countless coveted things in the media, whether it is the latest iPhone update, the private lives of celebrities, or Elon Musk himself. Perhaps Apple will shut down Beats Music, perhaps they won’t, but one thing is certain: one of the brand’s biggest draws is their ability to build hype around everything they do. By keeping the news private until they have all the kinks worked out and everything detail perfected, this company is able to literally sell the cool factor, and that is exactly what they are doing here. If they wanted quality in the sound department why did they buy Beats? mediocre, overpriced headphones. Why not Sennheiser, AKG or Pioneer? This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. They clearly bought Beats for the streaming service and not the ****ty headphones. They're just gonna integrate it to iTunes soon. Mr Josh 3
Beats are the best, besides Bose. They're both bad compared to other options from manufacturers like Audio Technica and Senheisser, especially for their price tag. ( and I've owned 2 pairs of beats and a pair of bose)

RAMROD 117,508
I read 'Applause' instead of 'Apple' LMAOh Buy on iTunes. Gaga said it needs to be listened to with quality headphones, too. So BEATS definitely out of the question :fan: (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ˢᵖᵉᵉᵈ ᵃⁿᵈ ʷᵉⁱᵍʰᵗ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡
Mr Josh 3
I haven't heard of those companies! Lemme google them. You say they're better than those two? Pretty much. Beats have a very nice design and good lows, but the mids and highs are mediocre at best. The Audio Technica ATH-M50 is probably one of the best pairs of headphones in the market right now (and it only costs 150 btw). They're extremely accurate, most artists uses em in the studio.
