If only feminists actually cared about bringing about equality they would have more support and not have to rely on the likes of Beyonce or Emma Watson to market them to demographics that don't include the misandrist tumblr crowd. Any man supporting your hate movement clearly doesn't think very highly of himself. Those are things feminists do, though. Don't come at me with the dictionary definition of feminism and try to tell me that that is how everyone thinks. Obviously they want more power than men. In fact, they already have it. Women are treated better in most civilized societies and they are still complaining! When was the last time a woman has been arrested for raping someone? Every time this happens they get off free as long as men are the victims. They honestly believe that cheating on a woman should be punishable by death but if a woman cheats on a man its just a natural part of life and we need to get over it. Thank God for women like her who have the right definition of feminism, is proud to call herself a feminist (and encourages others to do so) and as a bonus, puts weight on men's inequality issues too. I don't like to identify with particular brands of feminism as I don't like to limit myself and I don't agree with the ideals of every branch, but what she said here really sums up my personal brand of feminism. We need more female role models like this in the media, instead of all these faux feminists who think feminism is all about being sassy and overtly s-xual, as if that equals true empowerment or something. They shouldn't even have the word "feminist" at the end, just insane misandrists. But those extremists are like, 0.1% of the cause. If you get your research on feminism from what you see on tumblr, then I don't know what to say to that. Get out into the real world and meet real feminists, who, by the way, you run into everyday, whether they like to admit to it or not. Every woman who thinks she deserves equal rights is a feminist. And every man who thinks women deserve equal rights is a feminist too. You can't just call yourself an egalitarian and think that covers all the bases. You've got to support the specific groups who need help to raise their status until we become an egalitarian society. Feminists are always fighting for equality (it puzzles me when some accuse of just sitting around whining) and have brought about huge changes in this society. Women wouldn't be able to be the strong, independent women they are today without feminism giving them the right to vote, the right to own their own house and land, the right to birth control, the right to bring to justice anyone who had s-xually assaulted them, the right to be their own person who was equal to men. That is what feminism is all about and for you to say that feminism is a hate movement made up of loony radicalists is extremely offensive and I actually pity you for harbouring so much hatred. At least acknowledge the fact that your movement has some crazies who are the most vocal among you and try to do something about them. But you're the one who summarized feminism as a "hate movement." Just because you proclaim that you are something does not make it so. The radicals that you are talking about can call themselves feminists all they want, but i doesn't change the fact that they go against the very definition of the label. Every movement has radicals that unfortunately tend to define and represent the whole, but luckily in this day and age, we have the technological and mental capability to research and discern the truth. What Emma said was very beautiful though. I very much care for the cause and health of men and am against the rigid, strict, and unhealthy roles men are forced into by our culture and the pressure they're put under to be this or that. Please, let us not generalize a movement for equality just because you find extremists at times. That is like assuming Islam supports terrorism when there is only a margin of extremists that get too much attention and the vast population living in peace under Islam somehow gets missed. The same can apply to feminism, which is an equality movement that has created a much more tolerable environment for women in advanced cultures, though there is still work to do.
