Lady Gaga is not the Queen Of Pop

This opinion thread was born from a discussion in here about if Gaga or some other Pop girl is the future Queen of Pop. I think it's interesting, give it a try. Don't answer if you don't care to read.

I don't believe there will be a new king-queen of Pop cause Pop is not somethimg timeless and people take and give the crown like royalities. MJ was the king of Pop. So if someone comes with a career as big as his in the future he will take the crown? And then what will happen with MJ? I think that everyone makes his own legacy. MJ and Madonna lived when Pop music was at it's peak and they gained these titles as something that belongs to them, they didn't take a crown or something. Lady Gaga is not gonna become the new queen of Pop cause this has already been done, there is no empty spot that waits for her. Gaga is her own legacy. If you would ask me what Lady Gaga is I'd say that she is Andy Warhol of music and this is what she did from the beginning. (Not copying warhol, doing something similar with him but for music. I'm using his name as a starting point.)The biggest debate of all about Gaga is if what she does is real art or if she is just pretentious and this is exactly how Andy Warhol was and is still judged in art world. You see Gaga adjusts parts of of all types of art culture into commercial music. She couldn't be Mozzart or Dali or something because this type of heavy art is not commercial, it's only for a few selected people that can fully appreciate it. She takes simple ideas of art or even heavier ones (like the birth of Venus for example) and adjusts them into commercial music and visuals. That way the masses can have some experiences about art and literature. Think how many things about other types of music, older artists etc we've learned through Gaga, things that we would never search on our own. It's a taste of art for everyone, even for people that after that will go and listen to Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj for example (no offence). This is what she does, her own thing, and a very important thing.

Lady Gaga is the Lady Gaga of Pop.

She is in her own category.

Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?

This is what I'm sayin. I used Andy Warhol cause I wanted to contrast what he did with what she does in music.

She is extraordinary, and that, in and of itself, is something of an accomplishment in the pop music world.

And as far as I'm concerned, no one has done it better in quite some time.

Madonna was always The Material Girl during her 80's prime.

Whoever is on top at the moment will be called Queen or Princess by the media and fans.

Being called the Queen by the media or by the fans is something very different from getting that title as a part of your legacy. Obviously all the biggst names at moments are the kings/queens for these times but it's not the same.

I agree.

Lady Gaga is the Queen of Music, because she is living at the peak of music (because of her masterpieces of course) :nick:
