Taylor Swift / Katy Perry 'feud' discussion (background + KP's reply?)

Could somwone explain to me what's going on between the two?

 

My understanding: this is all coming to the forefront because Taylor's written a song about Perry on her new album. First Katy supposedly gave Taylor some backhanded compliments at award shows and the like (I don't know how much of that is true or how much that was Taylor taking something the wrong way). Then Katy hired back some of her backup dancers that had moved on to work on Taylor's tour. (But, damn aren't there enough backup dancers out there to go around so pop stars don't have to fight over them? LOL)

 

It doesn't help that they dated the same guy.

Am I right in thinking she's calling Taylor 'Regina' bc in Mean Girls Regina gets all her 'friends' stolen by Katy, and she's in a Sheep costume as Katy believes everyone is hating on her recently (Gaga etc.) so Taylor is being a sheep?

It means Taylor is a mean girl, but in sheep's clothing (with a fake good girl image).

She could very well be right - Taylor has had slut-shaming and boyfriend bashing lyrics, and has reacted strongly when people cross here.
