Do people seriously think ARTPOP failed?

I agree, it's not a failure.

But I have to point out a few things I disagree with.

Selling 1 million copies of DWUW without a video, while a good accomplishment, is definitely not anything to brag about. Songs do it all the time. And sometimes sell even more.

Also, ARTPOP is far from being on par with PRISM.

Once again, the album was not a failure. And those who call it a flop need a reality check.

In a game of golf, you want to be below par.  :dies:

You know it's a flop when you're a hardcore fan and don't even like the music.

Hardcore fans are entitled to their own music tastes as well. Not liking music from a particular album doesn't make you're not a fan anymore. Likewise, not liking music from a particular album doesn't mean the album is a flop.

TFM and BTW were both commercial success but I know of hardcore fans who don't like music from either albums. Does that make those albums flops too?

I feel like people (mostly in the media, but not just the media) have been too overdramatic about ARTPOP 'flopping.' Yeah, by Gaga's standards it didn't do as amazingly as her first albums, but in comparison to other artists it sold around the same bracket. The only thing that ARTPOP didn't deliver was singles. Applause was a decent hit, and DWUW was an okay hit, but after that the blackout happened and GUY flopped.

People just want to believe that it was some colossal failure to discredit Gaga's success and impact.

I feel like the negativity of the fans contribute the most to the "flop"...

I hate to say it, but it looks like we ourselves are the ones making her a flop because of all our negativity. It's subconscious, so we don't even realize we're doing it.

I remember reading one article about ARTPOP flopping and I went straight to tell my dad. Even though he doesn't buy music or keep up, I feel like we all spread it one way or another because we like to see failure.

I think her sense of direction throughout the album era was a complete mess. It wasn't cohesive and what makes me cringe the most is the way in which she would ditch concepts so quickly. For example, the entire #CreativeRebellion was just Millie puking paint on her once. She never actually carried out a #CreativeRebellion. If she made Swine a single before/after the SXSW puke performance then we would be talking about a #CreativeRebellion. :koons:

ARTPOP is a great album so I'm good. :bunny:

It was average, most people expected her to sell just as much as she did with The Fame and because she didn't, people are calling her a flop.

The Applause era was EVERYTHING. But after it, it all went downhill. Venus being the 2nd single, then DWUW, then Venus again, and finally DWUW with a canceled video, then G.U.Y. being her floppest single, far worst than Marry The Night. And now I can assume anything from ARTPOP will flop even harder than G.U.Y.. Sadly, because I really wanted Sexxx Dreams, Venus and Aura as singles..

I don't believe that ARTPOP failed that much commercially. I just feel like they failed to expand the whole concept. The Era was cut short and was restricted from the commercial underperformance and the negativity. The fault belongs to the management.

She shouldn't have released DWUW. Gaga is an artist with a vision, so when she's forced to release something, it's usually a mess. You can tell she never wanted that song as a single. It's a great song, I love it and it could've smashed, but it shouldn't have been released. The main reason was because of R Kelly, I mean she performed it everywhere so it had no reason for not hitting the top 10 even without a video.

Everything after that was a ****storm.

Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?
