uo111 5,261
she switched singles only cause one did better than the other one, I think she cares a lot DWUW didn't do better than Venus. Venus hadn't even been released yet. I know you know that, you know everyone here knows that. Ignoring it just makes you look bad. Just saying. elijahfan 26,232
I mean, this towards die antwoord, a very not well known group (compared to Gaga) and shaming them on not having a "hit" really isn't the way to go. She could've said something about their music or something, but the "hit" card isn't the way to go. Die Antwoord were the first to go after her, and they did so pretty violently - they deserved every bit of shade she gave them afterwards.

Stefani328 321
Of course she cares, she's a pop artist... Same. It's Gaga and the fans. She cares and the fans care, some too much. The ones that care so much are the ones that feed into stan culture.
The Professor 1,060
lol she obviously said that cause she's not getting #1's anymore, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing I know But i think she actually said this during the BTW era
TimisaMonster 31,073
Of course Gaga cared about the charts....that's the whole reason she changed Venus to DWUW...she saw some irrelvant rush in DWUW sales cuz the fans were downloading it and she overreacted and made a decision that perhaps ruined the entire rest of the ARTPOP era. Not saying Venus would've done better, but it sounded like she had a lot in mind with it and Venus would've done better without controversy Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! Travis 543
BUT, to be fair, Gaga's been saying in interviews since The Fame era that she doesn't care how her music, singles or albums, that she doesn't care about the charts. I was just watching an interview of hers from back then the other day, and that struck me. I think it comes down to the fact that Gaga is very appreciative and loves how well she has done on the charts (who wouldn't be excited about that?), but at her core as an artist, she truly doesn't care about how well it performs; she just wants to make music for her fans. It's also important to note that everyone around her (her team, record label, etc.) all want to see her do well and really do care about the charts because that's where the money comes in. And without that money she wouldn't be able to do what she does on such a large scale.
2007 5,291
I think she's viewing the charts negatively (the way she wants to), she makes the charts seem like if it's a voting process(poll) when it really stands on your sales, music viewers and listeners and the last time I checked this is exactly what she said she wants "I want ppl to listen to my music and enjoy it without caring about the charts", WHEN THE CHARTS ARE JUST STATISTICS ON THE AMOUNT OF PPL LISTENING TO YOUR MUSIC AND BUYING IT; it has nothing to do with what we SHOULD enjoying really (cuz the charts won't change my opinion on a song weather I like it or not, it's just shows the type of songs most of the ppl are into at the period). So yes she should care about the charts performance tbh
TimisaMonster 31,073
Plus, didn't Gaga come for Carely Ray Jepsen when she beat Gaga's record of #1 weeks?....she told her she's coming to reclaim her spot Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! Koala 3
:fail: Die Antwoord were the first to go after her, and they did so pretty violently - they deserved every bit of shade she gave them afterwards. This. I mean I love Die Antwoord too (specially Yo-Landi), but they made a parody of her in a music video and they were really rude. Gaga only wanted them to open for her in South Africa

hsweezy 0
seriously if anybody thinks she doesn't care about the charts then they refuse to be realistic! As a pop artist who had a huge commercial success and gathered a great number of fans of course she wants to continue to grow and that would only happen if she would reach a larger audience which equals performing relatively well on the charts. She's definitely contradicting her self when she says she absolutely doesn't care about the charts and you can point that in multiple tweets actually not just in this one. BUT At the end of the day she's a human being and its wrong to hold her to this impossible standard cuz of course she's gonna contradict her self. I think she's very passionate about her music. She's a pop artist so of course she will work to have the song sound like a hit or change something here and there to make it sound radio friendly but at at least we know she's involved 100% in the creative process and her whole music career was not based on having a hit after hit and claiming the #1 spot. So to nit and pick on everything she says on twitter when we know she posted these tweets at different times under different circumstances is not fair. Besides people change their views with experience and learning so maybe she has changed her view on making music where its not just based on the artist popularity but rather his creativeness. Koala 3
what happened exactly? She literally asked them to be the openers in South Africa and they took it as if it was offensive. Then they released the video for Fatty Boom Boom (go watch it, it features a person dressed with the meat dress and it totally looks like her ) and basically made fun of her and had a beef in Twitter You should search in Google and read the tweets. I'm not upset tho, they are really peculiar
