Economy 52,864 Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 I think that Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Scandinavia and Switzerland will stay growing and eventually become much more prosperous than the rest of the world. These countries have amazing education, which will really benefit them long-term. "almost all" i said. There are some developed Nations that are doing well and are growing sustainably and competitively so theres no reason for them to decay But 80% of Developed Countries seemed to have hit their peak. I don't know enough about it to comment fairly but that seems to be a link? I guess in a way were in a transition period where Developing Countries are catching up to 1st world Countries at our expense in a way But its more than just a competitiveness issue with stuff liike labour costs and wealthy Nations Consuming more and importing more than they produce... A mistake MANY rich Countries made was that... over time, people got used to prosperity and they demand more and more. It starts to lead to overspending and rising of taxes which lowers competitiveness even more with emerging markets... We didnt work hard enough to stay competitive with manufacturing. So we overspend and have a consumptioon based economy that consumes more than it produces and its leading to long term deterioration financially aht the Government and consumer level. The economy ultimately suffers as well "Rich" Nations are also the most indebted and in many cases the most uncompetitive for manufacturing and exports which is why those sectors are so stagnant in the developed world and theyve all moved to China, India, Bangladesh etc Again, this doesnt describe EVERY wealthy Nation. But the majority are in fact in this situation Id say in 30-50 years the list of Countries that are considered wealthy and prosperous and ones that arent, is going to look very different! Japan and South Europe may not be among the "wealthy Nations" anymore by then. But you will see more of South America and Asia there... This whole competition thing is ridiculous, I think I would prefer living here than the US but I haven't ever been to the US. funny because London is the most expensive place I ever been London is allot richer than the rest of the UK. Toronto isnt the richest for entreprises and stuff yes, but people in Toronto are the richest, the cost life is way superior in Toronto than Calgary, Edmonton, etc. there's a difference between economy on a work base and incomes and people's wealth and life cost. If you're talking about all of London (not just the very inner city) then it's probably tied or in fact worse off than the rest of the UK? Toronto was the most expensive city by far, restaurant, clothes, hotel, etc were very high comparatively to Montreal and other eastern cities. I don't say Calgary and Edmonton are poor cities, far from that, it was expensive too, but Toronto is the heart of Canada, the business city, it's normal the life cost is higher. just stop acting like you're the official economist of Canada, take your bags, travel all Canada during half a year and comeback with real-life facts. Haha my mistake! I'm from a working class background but we're slowly making moves, the pressure on the generation I'm in to succeed is painful I'm planning to make the move to London after university in two years.
