Well Turkey is both. Turkish culture is linked very close to European culture

I don't even care that the off topic police is gonna come and shoot me with his walmart bought gun, Turkey is such an amazing country :sara:  I learnt quite a bit last year in economics as its economy is doing pretty well

The title is simply a fact taken from the article

It's up to the individual to accept it or not. That doesn't mean start bashing other countries though.

The title is a quote, which itself is a generalisation taken from a list of statistics in an article.

GDP per capita wouldn't be the only measurement of poverty so there's no reason to accept it.

Maybe the author just doesn't have a good grasp of what he's talking about though, hence his aside insults at the UK.

You posted an article, and people are posting their thoughts and reactions.

If what people are saying was nothing to do with the comments, then no one would've said what they did :smh: you're just pressed that not everyone is bashing the UK :smh:

face it, the USA is decaying :toofunny:

Still, that doesn't mean the UK is rising

"Washington Post" :flop:

You're obviously not an American or else you'd know that the post is one of the most prestigious sources of unbiased news in the country.

Economy

Still, that doesn't mean the UK is rising

fact... Almost all developed Nations are decaying. Emerging markets are the ones rising

And no i dont count the economic recovery that beggining to accelerate and maybe last another 3 years as "rising"

Over the long term the middle class has been shrinking, taken a beating, Government Debt increasing etc in almost all developed Nations. Face it, 1st world is full of failures :coffee:

Sizzily

You should leave the economic threads to Economy. At Least his threads have valid, meaningful economic reports. :koons:

PPL are quibbling over subjective numbers :toofunny:

First of all depending on whos making the rankings and collecting the information the rankings will vary

Secondly, these numbers dont represent which places are truly most prosperous. Exchange rate fluctuations alone will change rankings from 1 month to another....

Thirdly the cost of living in each country is not always proportional to wages. And they probably dont include how many free services each Country offers its citizens when calculating purchasing power

These numbers can be presented in too many ways to make a huge deal over

Why did the OP ignore the best reply in the whole thread?

Anyways, I've noticed that every single time somebody has a good argument against the OP, the OP will come with:

'stop being off-topic'

(random insult to show how mature he is)

*OP ignores post completely*

'ok good for you'

Still, that doesn't mean the UK is rising

But it is :spin: the UK and all other West-European countries are rising in PPP at a much higher rate than the US except for the upper class.

I think that Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Scandinavia and Switzerland will stay growing and eventually become much more prosperous than the rest of the world. These countries have amazing education, which will really benefit them long-term.
