Why doesn't she have the same motives when doing pop music?

Because that's when her ideas get turned down all the time. No ones holding her back from doing jazz so she feels she found a nice escape.

1. ARTPOP was far from a failure. Just because it didn't break some silly records doesn't mean the music isn't wonderful

2. She's a human being, of course she changes. You're not the same as you were even 2 years ago, let alone 6. Of course she can try new things. Since when is trying new things considered quitting?

3. So because she's good at something means she can't do it?

Oi

1. Typically judgemental response. I nowhere said it's failure because of the sales/charts whatever, because it isn't. It is because 2nd single didn't have the video, there was a long break during the era, 3rd single wasn't promoted with performances, there was no other singles while less commercial albums sometimes have even 5. Era was strongly mismanaged, for me = failure.

2. Didn't say she is quitting (music career at all) but it looks like she won't release any pop/dance album in the near future.

3. She can. But she just got down to jazz right after critics bashed her last pop album. She isn't going boldly "you think I'm not good at pop/dance anymore ? I'll prove you wrong" she is going "you praise my jazz so I'll make one more jazz".

if you don't agree with me, don't try to convince me. I have my opinion, you have yours, we're not gonna change that

mmmkay but saying "bye" Isn't discussing it it's whining. My point was all these people saying they're done and bye are NOT going anywhere. That was my point ALSO not once did I ever say I am a yes fan. I am FAR FROM that ;) carry on.

Very good points, I applaud you fame.gif

Just thought your tactic of fighting a flame with a house fire was a little off, but... carry on gab.png

Battle 4 Ur Life

wtf!

does she want to alienate most of her fanbase? is that what she wants? I'm NOT gonna suddenly be a Jazz fan just because she is! I admire it, It's mellow, cool and everything but I'm not even a big fan of the songs on C2C that much tbh. I WON'T buy it! Why would I buy something I don't listen to? It's boring. G-zus f* Christ! I'm not 80's y.o and It's not the f* 30's or 40's or wtv.

Why can't she make contemporary music when she can be SO GOOD at it? Does she think we're only fans of her voice? Is this because of ARTPOP supposed "failure"?

Frustration everywhere, this means less or even no Lady Gaga for me. I wish she focused on her own career and moved on instead of taking new routes and leaving so much behind, possibly including me.

DE-PRESSING! Sorry I can't. I'm a fan of Lady Gaga. She can try to convince everyone but it's actually Stefani who's behind all those Jazz projects and I'm sorry but...

She can spit out two jazz records like this because it's a more relaxed creative process.

The music is already there so she just goes in the studio and has fun singing with Tony.

Don't freak out, she'll be back to pop. This is GOOD for her career.

Two jazz albums back to back? Omg! No! Unless she is not confident abt the songs she has available for the next pop album.

Gaga really wants to say goodbye to success. Applause to her for developing as a musician, but guess what... she is DONE with fame  for now, she's had enough (meaning that she is not aiming for success for at least 2 more years without releasing a pop album)

Edit: before saying that she will come back to pop.... she might kill her momentum as a pop star

Well I'm not going to wait for her if she continuously disappoints me but I'm going to wait until that point, wasn't that clear?

Yes you can't predict what will happen, but we're talking about what's in the OP... I said I wouldn't be here for two back to back jazz albums. I'm also pretty sure pure jazz (like Gaga is making) is going to come back any time soon. Well hopefully she does something a little more interesting than cover a few jazz songs.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that, just because of that fact doesn't mean you have to be here for two jazz albums... there's no logic in that. So far you've said, people might like it, jazz might become popular, Gaga might do this... when you've got a thread full of her own fans not wanting her to do two jazz albums (so close together).

I personally don't think Gaga will do it.

No, it wasn't clear.

I never said that pure jazz was going to come back, not to mainstream music...not once did I state that.

You've got a thread full of a handful of fans from a small slice of her fan base. There are just as many fans who are open to Gaga exploring pure jazz and to seeing what will come next, as there are fans declaring that they aren't "here for it". And the majority of those, who aren't her for jazz, will be here...whining and complaining every step of the way.

They know what's coming up. If they aren't here for it, now is a good time to move along. Why be miserable and then try and make everyone else miserable? Talk about a giant waste of time!

I agree with you that this a forum and we will all have different opinions but I think you're overreacting. I think more than anyone in this thread. She didn't even confirm anything, and we don't know if she she's going to release a jazz album next or a pop album and then another jazz album. Some of you all act like she declared, "I will never do pop music again, ARTPOP was my last pop album". That didn't happen. When this happens, I say go for it and have a million meltdowns, because I will be having them with you, but that hasn't happened. :)

I'm not fond of covers, let alone two cover albums. Her jazz songs all have the same sound, too. If it were an album of original songs from a variety of jazz eras (how about a collaboration with Esperanza Spalding or another modern jazz artist?) , then I'd be down. Her voice is nice, but I like her songwriting.

I'm also antsy about the silence on future pop music. I don't think she'll do this, but I don't look forward to more early jazz karaoke.

Still, I trust Gaga will get back to original songwriting and pop music. If she needs a break and enjoys this, go for it.
