Gaga is killing her own fantasy

You know that the "aloof, mysterious persona" from TF and TFM eras was more because she was uncomfortable and trying guard her heart, right?  So that's not necessarily a good thing to want to bring back...

Amazing how we can all look at the same things, and see them completely differently. I think these past two albums have been her at her best and most authentic.

Who she was at 21 isn't who she is at 27. I understand that. She grew up. So I'm not discrediting authenticity at all, I just feel more connected to her older work. Art and music will always be subjective so there will always be different opinions which I don't mind discussing I just wish some in this fan base could show the same respect to a view that doesn't mirror theirs. Not saying you did that, just a general observation :)

She is not killing her fantasy, she is evolving.  :kisses:

Let's be honest. She is 'Lady Gaga' because she does weird things and she is still doing weird things.

There's tons of bad things that can come with it.. like people no longer being intrigued and becoming bored of  her.

People eventually become bored of everything. "Shock" is not an effective long-term strategy. Look at Miley, it's only been a year and she's already starting to look absurd. The only way you can stay relevant in the music industry for more than 6 years is to actually be a talented and creative person.  That being said, Gaga shouldn't try to be "more relatable" either.  She just needs to do her thing, whatever that may be, and hopefully the quality is amazing and there's an audience for it.

I think The Fame Lady Gaga, The Fame Monster Lady Gaga, the Born This Way Lady Gaga, and the ARTPOP Lady Gaga are all entirely different.

Mythos

I think the Gaga many learned to love started to fall apart as most of her team left her. Everyone put a bit of their own energy into Gaga and made her to what she was. It's not that she is destroying that image, it's just that she can't keep it up anymore, now that she is the only one from the old team left alone, so we get to see the "real" her, or what she want us to believe is the real her.

I personally loved and miss the mysterious Gaga so f.cking much. It was my escape, escape from the boring world full with problems. She was the Goddess of that world that allowed me to live as a free b---h inside it. It was a world where i could be as crazy as i want to be, to be gay as i want to be, to sing crazy lyrics and don't give a ****, where everything was possible. It was a truly beautiful world...

Now she is just becoming one of the many popstars out there.

Gaga is still Gaga, but Gaga is changing, but she is still the same if that makes sense

She has toned it down. She has went from badass fierce chick to normal family woman.

I know what you mean though. TFM days when she was slaying etc. Those days were amazing.

Gaga hasn't change, we've just gotten used to how BIZARRE this woman truly is.

Might I remind you that this woman had her friend puke on her on stage while riding a mechanical hog. Or that she wore a dress made out of coffee filters while she was still wearing her vomit-infused dreadlocks from the night before.

Or that she made a dress that is LITERALLY "fly" (see what I did there, Volantis tease?). Or that in a few months the woman will become the first artist to perform from SPACE.

Now this I 100% agree with, 'ARTPOP Gaga' is most definitely not her being herself... this felt like the most forced character she's tried to pull off yet. It's like she couldn't even believe herself most of the time :rip:

First of all I just wanna say that I find the responses to this topic so fascinating.

I personally think Gaga has almost become lazy with her persona and the artistic ideas behind her work. Her videos and lyrics used to bring up so many different ideas and interpretations, and with ARTPOP it seems that everything is put on a plate for us to eat up, without being able to see things from different angles. She doesn't take the time to shroud things in layers and layers of interpretative material, instead having an idea, using the idea, and that's it. The G.U.Y video is a perfect example, it doesn't captivate me in ways that Judas, Alejandro & Paparazzi did.

Lyrically too, compare the lyrics of Electric Chapel or SHICD with MANiCURE or Donatella. Each song on ARTPOP has a clear statement and idea, giving no room for interpretation. There are lyrically beautiful moments on all of the songs, but the overall direction is clearer than her previous work. Again, she is laying out her statement on the table in black and white.

An interesting quote to bring up from her TF days, something about how celebrities shouldn't be seen taking out the trash, they should always stay as celebrities. She said herself about the fantasy of the celebrity, sleeping out all night just to catch a glimpse of Britney's hand. Although she isn't stepping out in sweatpants, she is still letting down a barrier that was helpful in creating her persona earlier on in her career.

Once upon a time Gaga would reject questions on her love life, only wanting to focus on the music, but now she seems to answer whatever the interviewers ask her. Almost all of her interviews for ARTPOP have failed to draw me in, as I pretty much know what she is going to say.

She is an open book. Some people prefer this, but I know me and a lot of other fans judging from this topic prefer the aura of mystery surrounding her and her work, and it is a big shame that this is no longer an important factor for her to consider when being the artist.

Actually, you are really right with that, but the thing that I miss the most in not this shocking element that she had but the "All under control" feel that she transmited.

Anyways in part I think that is true that we have get used to how strange Gaga can be

I strongly believe this is all just part of the ARTPOP Era. Once this Era ends, the way she acts will change again.

Think back to Born This Way. The meat dress, the elevated bones, as well as the music videos of BTW, Judas, and Yoü and I are intense fantasies.

I noticed that after FAME she began acting less "Gaga", or at least less how people defined "Gaga". The "decay of the blonde" is in essence the idea of destroying the public image of a popular figure. Her popular figure, or Gaga as we knew it, was the "blonde" she referred to. Destroying this "Gaga" image is part of her spectacle, but just temporarily.

For example, it was easy to think that Gaga would never stop pushing civil rights onto people after BTW. However, we can see that the message of equality is still present in her work, but it's not the main focus. This deconstruction during ARTPOP will not last forever either. Let's wait and see how she will change after this Era is over.
