DeleteMyAccount 11,881
It looks great. I have no idea what the story is though. Looks like a take on old fairytales. Somewhat like Wicked where there's a more "realistic" feel them.

Mast 980
YAS. I did this for my school last year. I was the Wolf/Rapunzel's Prince. It looks great. I have no idea what the story is though. Looks like a take on old fairytales. Somewhat like Wicked where there's a more "realistic" feel them. It's a musical. It basically condenses several fairytales into one, "new" story in which different fairytale characters interact with each other, with the moral of the story being "children will listen". Mind you that if Disney does this right, the versions of these fairytales should be closer to the actual original tales, and not sugarcoated like most Disney movies. Cinderella's stepsisters, for example, get their eyes pecked out and their feet mutilated.

mister 17
MAJOR WTFs First wtf - why is this marketed as a Narnia/Once Upon A Time/Maleficent type movie? :millie: They aren't even letting on that it is a musical in the trailer. It's a dark comedy musical, very tongue and cheek, and about the consequences of adult decisions.... Much like Sweeney Todd. Not Narnia 4. What the ****? Second wtf - I read somewhere that they are whitewashing the whole story. The baker's wife never sleeps with the prince, the wolf doesn't seduce Red, and Rapunzel doesn't die. The grimey adult reality contrasted with the fairytales is what drives the fcuking show. Not only does the story fall apart now, the characters fall compeltely flat. What the ****? And thirdly, the Third major wtf - this all means that they are cutting some of the best songs. But Sondheim says fair not, for Disney have written a new song to cover the loss: entitled 'Rainbows'. What the ****? This does not look promising
Spock 20,290
It looks so good. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the production they did in Central Park (i think it was in 2012) and I was so disappointed. Even though I don't think Disney was the right choice I hope they keep their word and make it dark who will love me when the night is over

What the ****? This does not look promising The prince does sleep with the Baker's Wife and the Wolf's song/scene is exactly the same as the musical. The cut some of the really short songs that didn't really impact the show, and some of the transitional songs like "One Midnight Gone", "Ever After", etc. And they cut "No More", which I'm happy about because I always hated that song. The film is nothing like Alice/Maleficent, most of the sets are real, there's not much CGI, and it's just a faithful adaptation of the original musical. It looks beautiful, it will probably win an Oscar for cinematography and set design, and SONDHEIM wrote a new song for the film, so that it can be eligible for Best Original Song. The only major change they made is that Rapunzel doesn't die. It's an understandable change, and she still runs off and abandons the Witch. Everything else remains unchanged, the darkness is still there, everyone who dies in the musical also dies in the movie, and the s-xuality is still there, it's just not as in your face. One Five Ten 70
I'm excited for this. The film industry has been severely lacking in musicals lately. Just hope Disney doesn't screw it up. It has an amazing cast.
Willy Wonka 4
It makes me nervous that they're picking generally straight actors instead of Broadway stars. It also makes me angry. Meryl Streep is not a great singer. Nor is Johnny Depp. Come on. Pick some people who do musicals for a living. This is the issue with Hollywood doing Broadway.
