ARTPOP is an amazing album.. donatella, venus, fashion!, s-xx dreams, ARTPOP, gypsy are all amazing songs.. they all sound completely different from one another and the lyrics are top notch (excpet perhaps donatella "ask you gay friends their advise..." "walk down the runway but don't puke.." lyrics are weak, but are sung approprietly with the beat).

The problem I had with BTW, which seems to be the fan favorite here, is that the lyrics were so weak, throughout the album.. Judas, one of my fovites off the album, "in the most biblical sense, I am beyond repentance, fame hooker prostitue wentch, vomits her mind" always makes me cringe when she speaks "vomits her mind" so weak.. although the break down of the beat was good.

The whole album felt rushed. All the songs sounded the same, I just felt like I was listening to one long song when I went through the album, with the exceptions of a few. Favorties of the album were: marry the night, judas, black jesus, heavy metl lover, and electric chaple.

My ranking of favortie albums is as follows:

The Fame, ARTPOP, The Fame Monster=BTW.

The Fame was and still is the best gaga album.. I think its because she had time to really work on it.. there was no record lable pushing for an album.. she had a chance to really listen to each song, and make each song specail in both production and lyrics.. the break down on boys boys boys ("I'm not lose I like to party... watch your heart when we're together, boys like you love me forever" is genius and is what judas' beakdown should have sounded like, lyrically) and just dance ("half psychotic, sick hypnotic, got my blue print, its symphonic" is again, genius. Well written and cheeky fun).

Anyway, I'm rambling. ARTPOP is great, the music makes me dance, and the lyrics play in my head all day.

So I'm just going to give a review of ARTPOP.  :manicure:

For me, ARTPOP is not my favorite album from Gaga. I feel like most of the songs are weak and I can't see myself replaying them over and over again. The only tracks that stand out for me are Do What U Want, Sexxx Dreams, and G.U.Y. I actually listen to these three on a daily basis because it makes me feel good when I listen to them. I don't really feel that with the other 12 songs on ARTPOP. With Gaga's other albums, I'm in love with the majority of the songs on each album.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that she should have worked more on the other songs. Tracks like Swine, Fashion!, Mary Jane Holland, MANiCURE, Jewels & Drugs, Donatella, and Aura feel unfinished to me. Like as if someone else made the songs for her. I just don't notice that "Gaga-ness" in these songs at all because they seem average. It's kind of hard to explain but that's just what I think.

I would have to say that Born This Way is my favorite album from her. Songs like BTW, Marry The Night, Scheisse, Government Hooker, Judas, The Edge of Glory, Hair, Bloody Mary, and Heavy Metal Lover stand out for me. That's basically a huge chunk of the whole album. I feel that strength in these songs when I listen to them. They're all memorable and they never get old to me. I also think they're well thought out and they all have amazing melodies and production.

Even though I love Gaga to death, she should have further included RedOne and Fernando Garibay in ARTPOP. When she works with these two, they make magic. She also makes magic with DJWS but only sometimes. I think she should make better choices when it comes to producers. That's the main issue I have with ARTPOP.

No, for me Born This Way is. ARTPOP for me lacks the overall thoughtful songwriting that caught me with Born This Way. I truly don't believe she's made a bad album, but ARTPOP is not her best; that would suggest that she can't do better which is far from the truth.

BTW so far is my favorite. It has higher highs but also lower lows than ARTPOP. AP is more even. I put AP and TFM at basically the same level. TF actively turned me off Gaga at first. Just dance is a typical dance pop song and Disco Stick is one of the most annoying euphemisms for penis I've heard, albeit Katy's Peacock was worse. It took finding her acoustic performances, Bad Romance, and Speechless to make me a fan. If she would have stayed with TF formula I never would have become a big fan.

I think Gaga is an artist where she gets better each album. I think ARTPOP is her best, indeed. I didn't like 40% of Born This Way when it came out (Highway Unicorn :emma:) but BTW was definitely a grower. I was hooked on ARTPOP my first listen. I still listen to it everyday.

Of course, ARTPOP is the best :) All the videos were all stunning even still with some mess in the promotion

No. ARTPOP is a very good album but BTW is her best one so far. You can say she put all her passion into making that album :legend:

No, it's her "worst" album.

1. No theme. "anything" = nothing

2. Lyrics aren't to the same standard as Born This Way/TFM but lack the fun of The Fame.

3. The production sounds dated, the other albums (especially Born This Way) have a timeless feel to them but ARTPOP sounds like it was supposed to be released in 2012.

4. None of the other genres (INSERT GENRE/POP) are properly explored. MANiCURE sounds like a Bratz track, Swine is cold on the table when it should be burning up etc etc

5. The tracks sound unfinished and lacklustre, there's something missing on every single one.

Born This Way > The Fame Monster > The Fame > ARTPOP

Agree with all of this. Except I think TFM is her best, most timeless album to date.

No. I love ARTPOP, but, TFM has been Gaga's absolute best work, all around. It's so pristine and heavy with quality. Her ambition, inspiration and creativity was huge! I hope we get to see that level of quality in the near future.
