VISION 52
VMA this year will be so boring Problem for video of the year? Where is Katy? Utter shame that GUY was ignored. The video is unique for the location alone. Beyonce does deserve awards, but not for the individual videos (that were quite dull), but for the whole BEYONCE project. ByeBye49 161
HOW ABOUT NONE OF US EVEN WATCH THE VMAS SO THE VIEWS WILL FLOP A TON. JUST LOOK ON THE INTERNET AFTER IT'S FINISHED SO YOU KNOW WHO WON.
StrawberryBlond 14,331
How videos like Wrecking Ball and Dark Horse got noms is beyond me. Dark Horse is possibly the worst music video Katy's ever made - and it's also her most disliked video on YouTube and drew religious criticism and accusations of appropriating Egyptian culture. Most people also picked up on the fact that she completely misunderstands the concept of a dark horse. And Wrecking Ball, well, do I need to even say why? The song has over 1 million dislikes on YouTube, is Miley's most disliked video and is one of the most disliked videos on the whole of YouTube, being one of a very select few to have hit 1 million dislikes. Compare this to the overwhelmingly positive reception of Applause and G.U.Y, plus the fact that Applause went to #4 in the US and was actually a very good success for Gaga, how does completely snubbing her make any sense? But, no matter. Applause was a much bigger hit in Europe, so I'm pretty sure she'll get some sort of nom at the EMAs to make up for it.
Muh 144
don't act like you don't know all this award shows only nominate the trendy/popular/hit music videos
Mills 446
The snub for of G.U.Y. is understandable since it was almost non-existent on radio or elsewhere. But for Applause? It was a sizeable hit enough for at least a nomination. But oh well. Seems next year would be another year without a Gaga nom, considering there's no way any music video from C2C would be nominated nor the next studio album after it would be released within the time frame for next year's eligibility. And if that does happen, it'll be 4 straight years of VMAs without a Gaga win or nomination at all. Tragic, especially considering that Gaga IS a video artist. Wrecking Ball is far from Mileys most disliked video and far from the most disliked videos on youtube lol Its the biggest video shes ever released and probably the most omnipresent song she'll ever release. It deserves its nomination completely, I don't understand how thats even arguable regardless of whether or not you think miley cyrus is a respectable pop artist or the video was personally respectable in your opinion. the vmas are a popularity contest, its not about music videos. blacklistedd 599
I wasn't referring to popularity when I said that. My point was that Gaga's stans may find art and merit in her videos, but that doesn't mean anyone else sees them as anything special. I like the Applause video but it isn't that memorable, even for a Gaga fan. I'm not surprised they didn't consider it. They didn't nominate Katy for VOTY despite her having the two biggest hits/videos of the eligibility period, because her videos suck. They nominated Chandelier which is probably the best video released this year despite the song not being a hit. nah, they nominated chandelier because its new and everyones up sias ass for some reason. theres always an of the moment song in the nominations to keep the noms current. otherwise that terrible roar video wouldve certainly been nominated if not royals or dark horse. the applause video isn't particularly memorable i guess in comparison to some of her other videos only because the song was nothing more than a decent hit. however, its being a decent hit was enough to make it deserving of a nomination, the video doesnt really matter because the vmas are not about music videos. theyre about hit songs, its basically all the songs they put on NOW CD's that are eligible lol Applause was definitely one of them. However considering how whatever people were with Gaga this era thats what makes the snub not surprising.

Applause was snubbed for a VMA award because it got no recognition for how great it is and basic videos that had absolutely no meaning (DH, WB) were acknowledge.
